Vegetable Seed Packet Quilts

I made these individual quilts of Vegetable Seed Packages. The quilt is called Grandma's Garden Quilt from Suzy's Sitcom, which was a block of the month for 9 months, but now all 9 blocks are available at once.

I didn't want to make this into one large quilt, so I made each block separate, which does make them look more like a packet of seeds. I used batik fabrics, mostly scraps, and then added the batik border around each quilt. I machine blanket stitched and then did hand embroidery for the lettering and other things like stems, tendrils, etc.

Each quilt measures approximately 14" wide x 18" high.

I made corner triangles on the back of all of these little quilts so they can be hung with a dowel inserted into the corner triangles.

Carrots come in more than just orange. Carrots are also white, yellow, purple and red. I didn't make my bunch in all those colors, but mostly in various shades of orange and one yellow.

I love the look of Crookneck Squash because it's interesting. Tastes good too!

I made my radishes Easter Radishes instead of red and white radishes like the pattern shows. I remember the first time I saw Easter Radishes at a Farmer's Market, I was amazed by the colors of red, pink, white and purple in the bunch of radishes and I loved the colors! I grew my own Easter Radishes after that.

I am not sure what I will do with all 9 of these because I don't have room to hang them all unless I hang them up high on the wall above my dining space and kitchen, which is a short wall in height coming down from the ceiling. I will see if Mr. P wants to climb up and hang them there.

I loved making these! Thanks Suzy for your wonderful patterns!

Evelyn Bag Enlarged & Modified

I wanted to make some changes to the Evelyn Bag (ChrisW Designs) and see how it would look and work. First, I enlarged the bag, then instead of 2 straps, I added a single long strap and I omitted the side pockets. Instead of adding the center fabric strip to the flap, I added rivets down the center instead. I also added purse feet to the bottom of the bag.

With the enlargement of the bag, it now measures 14 3/4" wide x 8" high x 4" deep at the widest measurement.

The exterior is all denim.

A zippered pocket on the back of the bag, plus another zippered pocket inside the bag.

A large divided slip pocket inside the bag and a zippered pocket across from it.

I added a stabilizer to the bottom and quilted it in place and added purse feet.

As a comparison, I made this Evelyn Bag years ago just like the pattern:

Polar Bear Table Runner

I made this cute table runner. It's a Wooden Bear Design. I love how whimsical their applique designs are. I appliqued each piece with blanket stitching and quilted it. Added buttons add that extra charm.

This cute polar bear with his hat and scarf is perfect for displaying on a table for winter or Christmas time. There is even a poinsettia button on the pompom of his hat.

Those little button eyes give him more expression.

This table runner is now in my Etsy Shop for sale. This quilt sold in a local shop December 2021.

Serendipity Hip Enlarged in Hot Air Balloon Fabric

I have wanted to make an enlarged Serendipity Hip for quite a while and finally decided to just do it. I made the top of the bag straight across, rather than curved too. I like this larger version because it still has all the great features of the regular Serendipity Hip, only bigger. This is a pattern from ChrisW Designs.

This enlarged version measures approximately 10" wide x 12 1/2" high x 2" deep. (The original size is 8" wide x 10" high x 1 3/4" deep).

The bag has a zippered closure and there is a zippered front pocket too which is handy for quick access.

I made a zipper pull with beads and a hot air balloon charm too. Did you notice the charm and the balloon in pink behind it are the same pattern?
Back of the bag.

Inside the bag another zippered pocket and a credit card/cash pocket.

The credit card pocket will hold a couple of cards and behind it is a deeper pocket that will hold cash folded in half. So if you don't want to carry a separate wallet, you will have more room for other items in this bag.

Above the front zippered pocket is a hidden slip pocket with a phone pocket. So handy and convenient for quickly grabbing your phone.

Inside the front zippered pocket.

Here you see the zippered closure and the hidden pocket above the front zippered pocket.

This bag would be a huge hit at a balloon festival. Sadly, our International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque was cancelled for this October, but hopefully the balloons will be flying high again next year at the Fiesta!

This one of a kind bag is now listed for sale in my Etsy Shop. Get it before it's gone.
