Singer Merrittlock 14 U44B Overlock Machine For Sale

I have a Singer Merrittlock 14 U44B Overlock (serger) for sale. (I acquired a Bernina Overlock Machine a few months ago, so I need to sell this Singer Overlock Machine). I bought a 100 serger machine needles for this machine and I have only used about 10 of them, so there are approximately 90 serger needles that I am including with this serger. I also purchased a new set of cutting knives for this serger that are still in the package and haven't been used. The serger cutting knives on the machine are still cutting well. I bought a hemmer foot for this machine too.

With the front opened there is a threading diagram to make threading the serger easier. It's not difficult to thread this serger, but it does take time since you have and upper looper, a lower looper and a right and left needle to thread. Of course there are times when you might only be serging with 3 threads, rather than 4.
I really love that this serger has a free-arm for serging cuffs and pant legs and other things in a tube-like shape. Even my Bernina serger doesn't have a free arm! I was tempted to keep this serger just for using the free-arm, but I have no space to keep Miss Merrittlock anymore, darn it!
Another view of the free-arm down and the front and side doors open.

This overlock machine was made in Japan and not China! The Japanese made some really nice sewing machines and sergers. Now nearly all sewing machines and sergers today are made in China or Taiwan, even those machines that used to be made in other countries like Germany, Switzerland, and the USA, are made in China and Taiwan. I have some machines that are made in Taiwan and they are great machines too, so I am not knocking where they are made, but just noting this and that it's hard to find machines that are made elsewhere today.
The extra cutting knives, the 9 packages of serger machine needles (10 needles in each package, although one package could have a needle or 2 less because I cannot remember if one of these were opened or not. So there are approximately 90 needles, or a couple less if a package has had some taken out)., and the hemmer foot. I marked this foot with an "M", because I think the instruction manual referred to the hemmer as foot "M".
The extra new cutting knives still in the package.
The hemmer foot, marked with the "M".
I downloaded and printed this instruction manual because there is some updated information in this guide that the original guide doesn't have.
This is the original guide that came with the machine. It has gotten a bit wrinkled and it isn't as thorough as the guide I downloaded. There is no information in this guide about oiling the machine at all. The guide above has that information. I also printed out the page for where to oil this machine and placed it in a protective sleeve cover so I would have that close at hand when I cleaned and oiled her. I am including that page in the sleeve too.

I am posting this here first before I place my ad on Craigslist. So if you are interested please contact me ASAP. I will put this posting link on the Craigslist ad so that anyone wanting more information and lots of photos can come here to read about it as well.

I am asking $65.00 plus $40.00 shipping if you live somewhere that I need to ship it to; locals don't need to pay shipping of course. The cost of the machine needles, cutting blades and hemmer foot all together cost more than what I am selling this machine for! Go to ebay and price this machine and the extras separately. You'd pay $80 just for the needles, hemmer foot and blades!
SOLD! Enjoy serging Shirley!

Bernina 830 Record Sewing Machine For Sale

I have a Bernina 830 Record sewing machine for sale. Made in Switzerland. This particular machine was produced in 1978. All Bernina 830's were produced from 1971-1982 and were the top selling Bernina model for 11 years! The 830 is still a favorite machine, especially among quilters. It's a mechanical sewing machine with the basics. Sews great. I hate to part with it, but I do have another Bernina (as well as a few more machines) and no more space to keep this one.

I purchased this machine used years several years ago and it only came with one presser foot. I did buy a few other presser feet for this machine so I could sew other things, like a buttonhole foot and a zipper foot, free motion/darning foot, etc.
You can see the bobbin case here. The middle dial on the right is for making button holes.
The red tool case for holding presser feet and other items.
This machine comes with the knee lift, the extension table, the instruction manual, 1 bobbin, the bobbin case, the red tool case that holds all the presser feet, the light bulb changer and I am also throwing in 4 packages of sewing machine light bulbs that are still in the package. I also have a 2-VHS set of How to Repair Your Sewing Machine, which features this same sewing machine in the video. So you can service your own machine and save money!
Here is everything that comes with the Bernina 830 Sewing Machine as I listed above. (The light bulbs I forgot to include in this photo, but I have a photo of them down below.)

Red Tool Box that holds the press feet, etc. Presser feet included are: Embroidery hoop, darning foot, buttonhole foot, zipper foot, standard zigzag/straight stitch foot, tailor foot. The blue plastic thing is the light bulb changer that grips the bulb and makes it easier to take out and insert a new bulb.
21 stitches total. These are a really nice assortment of stitches from utility stitches to a few fancy stitches.

The Bernina 830 Record is a workhorse of a machine. Easy to use it's great for a new sewer/sewist or someone just wanting a second machine.

*Disclosure: The machine has a crack on the plastic that has been repaired on the back of the machine (see photo below). The crack is located on the plastic housing behind the thread spool pins and in no way affects the use of the machine when sewing. You can only see the crack from behind.
Back of the machine. There is a crack on the plastic at the top of the machine. The crack was glued and sanded and in no way affects the sewing performance of this machine at all. It is strictly a cosmetic "blemish". Below the crack is navy blue thread. The thread is not the crack. The crack is located above the Bernina name. Just wanted to make this clear in case you weren't sure where the crack was.
Here are some of the stitches sewn on this Bernina 830 Record sewing machine.
I am including 4 brand new sewing machine light bulbs too.
If you are interested in purchasing this sewing machine before I list it on Craigslist, email me ASAP. Ask me any questions and if you want more photos, I can email them to you as well. I am asking $350.00 + $50 shipping in the USA only, or any reasonable offer. If you live locally within driving distance to me there is no shipping charge of course.

If I sold each part of this machine separately I would make more money than selling everything all together. Check out the sold listings on ebay.com to see what these sewing machines sell for and what the separate parts sell for too. Just the knee lift part alone has sold between $50-$75 on ebay; the same for the extension table. Presser feet cost from $10-$20 each and sometimes even more. The embroidery hoop alone I saw for sale on ebay for $30. The (empty) red tool box sold for $20 and up. Swiss made Bernina machines like this really hold their value!

**Update: The Bernina here has SOLD! Thank you Jackie.

Clutchmates A New Clutch Bag

I recently tested a new bag from Imazzpatterns called Clutchmates. This cute little bag has a removable wrist strap, and a choice of 6 different flap designs! This clutch can look different depending on the flap and fabric that you choose. It's a beginner-friendly pattern too!

Of course I have been having fun using my machine's fancy stitches lately so I had to make the flap of my bag with fancy stitches and couched yarns too! Since I tend to be a bit asymmetrical myself (LOL!!!) I chose the asymmetrical flap of course.

Imazz is having an Introductory Price on the Clutchmates Bag pattern through September 26, 2015, so please check out her pattern on Craftsy or Etsy.
My Clutchmate Bag with asymmetrical flap and fancy embroidered stitches and couched yarn.
I even added a decorative zigzag stitch to the zipper strips.
The flap and the back of the clutch. I used a blue dyed fabric for the entire exterior of the bag.
I used a fun novelty print for the lining fabric. You can add an optional zippered pocket in the lining or even a slip pocket if you want to. I opted to not add a pocket inside.
The zippered closure under the flap.
My signature zipper pull.
Oh yes and a heads up about those Frixon markers. Normally when you draw a line with a Frixon marker in any color, the line will disappear when you iron over the mark. Frixon does warn you about mark coming back if  the temperature gets down to a certain cold temperature, which I cannot recall how cold it has to be for the marks to reappear. I did test it by making a mark on a fabric scrap and putting the scrap into the freezer for a day. When I removed the fabric scrap from the freezer I could see a faint mark on the fabric. But I wasn't worried about the cold since my bags or quilts will never be in subfreezing climates. However, this is the second time I have drawn a line with Frixon and ironed it and had a white line appear. I used a pink pen and a brown pen recently and this occurred with both of those colors. So from now on I will not mark anything that could show such as this long line. If the marks are made where it will be covered, such as in a seam or under a snap, that's okay to use the Frixon pens. Even water did not remove the white line that was left. So be careful when using Frixon pens!!!
Don't forget to check out Imazzpatterns for this cute Clutchmates bag and for all her other Imazzpatterns too! Imazz even has a free book cover with handles pattern on Craftsy too. I need to make one of those myself, I downloaded the book cover pattern and still haven't made it yet. But it is on my to-do list for sure!

Knittin' Pearl (Quilt)

Here is a fun little quilt I made called "Knittin' Pearl". You knitters will get the funny meaning here. The arms on the quilt were done in 3-D on the pattern, but I made this smaller and opted not to do that.
Here is Pearl and she be a knittin'!!!
I rounded the corners on the quilt, but the top corners don't want to lie very flat. I even blocked this too. I used only scraps for making his little quilt.
Pearl is knitting right off the sheep! Toothpicks are the knitting needles.

The little pinwheel quilt blocks were made from leftover half-square triangles from my grandson's quilt. So I only had to sew together the 4 units to make each pinwheel. I added some cute flower buttons in the centers to make them look more like a pinwheel spinning.

Scalloped Fabric Bowl With Pentagon Base

I made this fabric bowl with a pentagon base and scalloped top edge. I made one like this before and I liked the shape a lot. I was thinking of making it with the hexagon base, but decided to make another pentagon, as I rather like the 5 sides. Plus it's one less side I have to sew, lol!!!

The instructions on how to make this bowl comes from the Contain It! English Paper-Pieced Accessories book by my blog friend Laura Chaney (Gerth) and her mother Linda Chaney. They blog over at Prairie Sewn Studios.

I love the bowls and vases and containers in the book. I should try making another shape and size that I haven't already made. I participated in their blog hop last year where I made several containers and you can go here to see what I made in case you forgot or are a new follower or are just visiting today. There are so many possibilities of great containers to make in their book.

Here is my latest scalloped bowl with the pentagon base:
I chose a floral and paisley fabric for the exterior of this bowl.
Each side is a bit different from how the fabric was cut.

The inside is a pink with lime green dots.
You can see the pentagon base and all 5 interior sides in this view.
