Handyed Wool-Blend Felt

I handyed some wool/rayon blend felt with food coloring and vinegar. Here are the results. I stacked all the various colors that I dyed.

Pink dyed felt.

Yellow-orange.

Handyed Cotton Batting Wallhanging

Inaugrauation Day is what I named this wall hanging because I was sewing this wall hanging by hand while watching on televison Barack Obama's inauguration on January 20, 2009. I handyed some 100% cotton batting using food coloring and vinegar. The dye didn't take as well as wool fibers do, but I was still pleased with the results. I made this little wall hanging with the scraps of batting that I dyed. I embellished it with sequins and beads.

Chunky Knit Socks

My friend Susan gave me a skein of Rowan's ColourScape chunky yarn by Kaffe Fassett. I started knitting a scarf and then seeing how much yarn I had, ripped the scarf apart and began making socks instead. I still had quite a bit of yarn leftover. I was pleasantly surprised how far one skein of this yarn went. These will certainly keep my cold feet warm on these cold nights!

Sweater for Zane

I knit this asymmetrical sweater for my grandson. It used several different yarns for a funky look. The back of the sweater was a multi-colored variegated yarn that had the autumn colors like the front yarns.

Firefly Quilt

I made a small wall quilt of the Very Lonely Firefly, inspired by the childrens book by Eric Carle, for my grandson. I used yellow glow-in-the-dark thread for the bottom of the firely and made several little stitches around the bottom to glow. Pin It Now!
