Fabric Coiled Bowls Galore

I made some more fabric coiled bowls. I had sold some other bowls a couple of weeks ago and was asked to make a bowl in blue, so I made some more bowls. I actually made 3 blue ones so she could choose the one she liked best. I enjoy making these and using up scraps of fabrics.

Snazzy Slouch Bag

I made the Snazzy Slouch Bag, a pattern by ChrisW Designs, at the end of September. I sewed decorative machine stitches, yarn and buttons to the outside pockets on the front and the back. There are 4 outside slip pockets. The embroidered pockets got so thick for this bag that I had a hard time sewing through the layers when putting it all together. I will only do decorative stitches on certain style bags that I know won't get this thick. (A lesson learned).

Here is one side view.
Here is the other side view.

I opted not to make the inside divider pocket that is a zippered pocket that divides the inside of the bag in half. I just added some slip pockets inside.
This is the other side.

I DONATED this bag to raise funds for Alzheimer's Disease 2022.

When Knitting Goes Bad!

I decided to use up some more misc. yarn and knit a small throw suitable for a child. The instructions have you start knitting in the round from the center and place markers evenly spaced around, which indicates where you need to make increases as the throw grows larger with each knit round. As you accumulate more and more stitches on the throw, it is hard to see what it will actually look like because the knitting gets rather bunched up around the circular knitting needle. So it wasn't until I bound off the knitting from the needles that I noticed my mistake! Big mistake! Well I wasn't going to rip it all out, so I donated it. While it doesn't lie flat, some child can still cuddle up with it. I may as well share the good I make here along with the bad. Perhaps someone will learn from my mistake? I know I certainly won't make this mistake again, lol!!!
The color that looks blue in the photo is actually royal purple! The dark color is navy blue.
You can see the center doesn't lie flat. Look around at the 4 wedges, you can see the one on the left is the smallest wedge and the wedge to the right of that is the largest. Somehow I must have counted wrong and placed my markers in the wrong place and so as I increased the one wedge grew larger than the rest and that meant one wedge was smaller and because they weren't even the throw won't lie flat.
The smallest wedge here.
The largest wedge here.

I might make another one of these throws using up some more yarn, but I will PAY ATTENTION to what I am doing next time!!! Live and learn, right?

Colorful Scrappy Fabric Coiled Bowls

I made some fabric Coiled Bowls using some scraps of fabric. I love how colorful they are and by using scraps in a variety of colors, I never quite know how they will turn out, so it's always fun to see the end result.

This one is larger because I had some cording that was a bit smaller in diameter that I want to use up, so I made a larger bowl.

I flipped this one upside down to show it from a different angle.

Selvage Zipper Pouches

I have a HUGE bag of selvages I have collected over the years. I even made an extra large zippered bag out of selvages to store my cut selvages inside the bag. That bag was stuffed full, so it was time to make some zippered pouches to use up some of my selvages. I love the names on the selvages and sometimes there are fun shapes besides just the usual colored dots that show the colors of the fabric. There are 6 bags, 5 the same size and one a bit smaller and they are all lined with the same print, so I only showed the inside of one bag, since they are all the same. Even though it looks like more than 6 bags here, I am showing the front and the back of each bag, since they have different selvages sewn in place.
One side...
...and the other side of the same bags. See the bag on the left has a star burst shape (near the top) to show the colors in that fabric instead of the usual circles. I love those different shapes, but you don't see them very often.
Side one...
...side 2 of the same bags.
I used the same lining fabric for all 6 bags.

Wool Felt Brooch

I recently taught a class at the local library for making an easy felt embroidered ornament. Next month I will be teaching a super fast and easy last-minute gift project to make: a fabric covered button. I will bring a variety of colorful fabric for the people taking the class to choose from and they will cover a button in fabric and then if they want to make the button into a magnet, they can hot glue the magnet to the back of the button. These buttons have a flat back surface, not a shank (which is for sewing them on). Or they can just glue the button onto anything they desire.

So I combined the 2 class projects into one, and created a felted brooch instead of an ornament, then glued the button I created in the center (no magnet) of the felt flower. I wrote a name on the button (wrote it on the fabric before it became a button) and gave it to the librarian who works there. I used to work with Tracie when I worked at the library myself and I wanted to give her a little something. Plus that way she could show the button to anyone who might want to sign up for the button class.
Fabric button with name written on it and then I added a hot fix crystal to dot the "i" in her name.
Wool felt with embroidered stitches and a few hot fix crystals with fabric button glued in the center. I sewed an alligator clip to the back so that it can be clipped onto clothing or a clipboard or a bag, etc.
