The Give-Away Winners are...

Yes I said winners. I decided to choose one winner for each of the 5 years I have been blogging. So I chose 5 winners. I knit 5 scarves, and although it's too warm to wear them now that the warmer spring weather is here (well at least in some places that is), I hope they will get use out of them this fall and winter. Congratulations ladies. I have sent you all an email.

Winners are~
Lou C., Diane S., Pauline F., Patty C., Carla B. Here are the scarves I knit. I'll choose one to send to each of you, so you won't know which one you will receive. I hope you like a surprise.

Scarf knit in garter stitch.
Eyelash yarn knit in a triangle shape.
I knit this one in a mobius style cowl; it looks twisted, because it's supposed to be twisted.

Cute Kitty Cat Pincushion

I was visiting Teresa from A Quilt and A Prayer this morning and she had a photo of this adorable Kitty pincushion. She was trying to find out more about it because it belonged to someone who was at the quilt retreat she was attending.
So I went sleuthing around the internet and I found this:
This is a FREE pattern you can find here.

Stitch Me Up Blog Hop + Followers Give-Away

It's my day today to show you what I embroidered for the Stitch Me Up Embroidery Blog Hop. Thanks Madame Samm for creating another wonderful blog hop. Thanks to cheerleader Jane. I also want to thank Madame Samm, Debbie Martinez from Busy As Can Be and Cyndi of Bee Tree Designs for providing us with some really beautiful drawings for us to choose from in order to make our embroidered projects. There were 9 different choices we had and also several pages of embroidery texture patterns we could also use.
Since hand embroidery takes time to do, I chose only 2 of the designs to create. I hope you like them.
I call this little quilt Madame Samm in Paris.
I painted the background fabric, added some glitter paint which I squiggle-painted all over. I used wool hand dyed felt for the applique sweater, skirt and hat and a faux suede for the dog; which I then blanket-stitched around. Lots of seed embroidery stitches and French knots were added to the background fabric.
I made this from the embroidery drawing that Madame Samm created for this blog hop and  I chose to make a small quilt.

I embroidered the hair to look more hair-like.
The Blue Chair is what I named this embroidered quilt. The drawing of the blue chair  was a design from Debbie Martinez. She also had a dress form in her drawing, but I chose to use only the chair.
I used a hand dyed blue fabric that I hand dyed last summer. I sewed stacked buttons on the front of the arm.
The border and binding fabric is a batik fabric. I used a tiny white rick-rack around the pink inner border.
I made this tea towel a few years ago. I used crayons and a variety of embroidery stitches on this one. Her dress is all embroidered and I also embroidered flowers on the item she is pressing.
March 22 is also my 5-year blog anniversary. My very first posting was on March 22, 2008. So I thought it would be a great time to have a give-away for my followers only. Please let me know you follow my blog when you leave your comment. You must be a follower to win, since it's my blog anniversary give-away  just for my followers. I'm not sure what I will give away, but if you like a mystery it will be something good. Good luck. Giveaway Closed.

Cable Knit iPad Cover

I knit this iPad cover for my daughter's iPad. I don't own an iPad.  I added a Celtic button as she loves all things Irish.
The knit stretches a bit for a perfect fit.
The colors of the yarn seem to change when photographing them. The cover is a burgundy wine color.
iPad with a sweater.
If you want to knit your own iPad cover you can find the free instructions from Haramis Knits.

Savannah Bag Made Smaller

I posted last week about the Savannah bag I made that was a pdf pattern from Chris W. Designs and that's the bag I use to hold my lap top and stuff for my lap top because it is a large bag with lots of pockets. Well I got to thinking how much I liked certain aspects of this bag and thought why not reduce the size and put in fewer pockets so I could use it as my everyday bag/purse. That's just what I did. This is the smaller version of the Savannah bag.
I quilted the batik flap and the blue fabric that I hand dyed last summer. I made a few adjustments to this bag, one being I didn't need the pen pocket or the slanted pockets. I made the hook strap longer and the flap all one piece, but shorter.
Back of the bag I made the zippered pocket and measured the placement correctly on this bag, lol.
Inside the bag I have the patch pocket and plenty of room for my wallet, sunglasses case,  reader eyeglasses case, my handy strawberry bag, tissues and more.
After I showed this bag to my daughter, she said, "Where's my bag"? She uses a messenger style bag that's smaller than this one that she purchased a few years ago. Her bag is showing some wear and my Savannah Junior size is so much better looking than her bag and is roomier too. So I guess I will be making another junior-sized Savannah bag in colors that she chooses.
