Blue String Quilt with Tigger Appliqué & Butterflies (Project Linus Donation)

I made a blue string quilt, knowing that I would add some kind of appliqué on top of it after I sewed the blue string together. I had picked up this Tigger panel that was cut out (it had white all around it) from another Project Linus group free stuff table about 2 years ago! Gosh time flies! I also have an Eeyore cut out too I got at the same place and time. Since Eeyore is blue, I knew he wouldn't even show up on this blue quilt, but Tigger, being the fine orange fellow he is would look great. I decided to cut off the white fabric that surrounded him and fused him onto the quilt. He is so long with his tail that he covered all the blocks in width but one. There were some butterflies on this cut panel too, so I cut them out leaving off the white fabric as well. There are 3 pink butterflies and 2 blue butterflies, can you find them? I worried about the blue butterflies with the blue background, however there is yellow surrounding the outer shape so that they are not completely hidden and can be seen more clearly in person.

The quilt measures 36.5" wide x 45.25" high.

Scrappy string quilt with Tigger appliqué and pink and blue butterflies that were appliquéd on too.

Peek at the back side with flannel backing and Project Linus label
The backing of the quilt is this blue flannel.

Close up of Tigger's silly face
Quilted the quilt with a diagonal serpentine stitch. Doesn't Tigger's silly face make you smile? Some child will love this one!

closeup of Tigger
Tigger is so long, he stretched out over all the quilt blocks, except one. See the pink butterfly above him and the blue butterfly under his head?

Here is a close-up of the blue butterfly. I stitched with blue thread, but the yellow in the butterfly does help it to stand out against the blue.

Mod Dog Wall Quilts

I just love these cute little Mod Dogs. I had made quite a few in pinks and in browns last year, thinking I would make a quilt using them. I wanted to create my own setting and not follow the pattern exactly, but nothing I auditioned the dogs on really looked that great to me. So I decided to make a couple of the dogs into small wall quilts (or they could be a placemat or large mug rug or table topper too). I had some that I made looking right and some looking left, so I grabbed one of each direction and color and appliquéd them to a wavy quilted background.

These each measure 13" wide X 9 1/2" high.

These are a fun way to use up those never-ending Pile of Scraps!!!

Applique Boo Ghost Wall Quilt

I made this cute little ghost wall hanging. It measures 9 1/2" wide x 11 3/8" high. I stitched around the ghost using glow-in-the-dark thread, so it looks really cool at night. On the back I added triangle hanging pockets in the top corners so you can add a dowel to hang it.

Made with cotton fabric and cotton batting. Blanket stitched with machine embroidery thread.

Scroll down to purchase this wall hanging.

I just love this cute ghost. It is an Amy Bradley design that I reduced the size slightly.

The triangle corner pockets will hold a dowel for hanging.

Buttons for eyes.

This sweet ghost is ready to hang in your home this Halloween.

$36 + $5 shipping ($41 total). Contact me if you want to purchase this wall quilt.

 Thanks for looking.

Fortune Teller Quilt

Last year when I participated in a blog hop, called Witchy Stitchy Blog Hop another blog hop participant, Charlene, from Just Because Quilts shared her Fortune Teller quilt.  She mentioned at the time that if anyone wanted her pattern for the applique to email her and I did. I finally got around to making the quilt and I love it! Thank you Charlene, I love this quilt!

I was going to work on this among other applique projects at my applique group, but then when this Covid-19 started and everything was cancelled, I decided I needed to work on applique projects at home by myself and this was one of them I made.
The tie part of the headband/scarf I made 3-D and sewed a button to hold it in place. You can see a bit of a close-up in the next photo below.

I added some hot fix crystals to her finger to look like a ring.

More crystals were fused for a necklace.

I used all batik fabrics to make this quilt.

Who? Owls Peeking in the Window Quilt

My quilt guild announced an Attic Window challenge recently so that we would try making an Attic Window any size. You could make a single block or a quilt as large as you wanted to. The purpose of the challenge is to decorate our guild's booth space at Fiber Arts Fiesta, happening at the end of May. We turned in our Attic Window quilts yesterday. Everyone who participated got a participation entry and they will draw a random name to win a gift card at a local quilt shop.

I knew what I wanted to make right away and was so happy at how it turned out! Some ladies made Attic Window quilts using a panel of an outdoor scene so that it appeared as though you were looking out a window onto that outdoor scene. I wanted to have the owls that I appliqued appear as though they were looking in the window at me. I love these cute, whimsical owls.

I am a Material Girl Quilt

I made this cute quilt along with my applique group. We each made the same quilt putting our own touches on it. We started with the Amy Bradley pattern called  Everyday is a Shopping Day. Instead of adding those words (the title of the pattern), I chose my own saying and chose my own font too. I call my quilt, "I am a Material Girl", which I thought was a cuter play on words for this quilt.

I reduced the pattern to make her a bit smaller. Some of the ladies in our applique group made theirs the original size and some the reduced size. I started my quilt by using some scraps of white and cream that I sewed together to make a background. Then I stitched down the applique and added my wording, border and quilted it. I also added some embellishments. I had an iron wall decor piece I got at Hobby Lobby quite a while ago and it was the perfect size to use for my quilt. I sewed a couple of grosgrain ribbon tabs around the iron decor piece and to my quilt and hung her up that way.

Hanging on the wall in my sewing room

I entered this quilt into a contest too at PatternReview.com I came in 3rd place, but there were only prizes for 1st and 2nd place. I had more comments posted about my quilt than the winners had (at least at that time) and they were all so sweet what they said. I love my quilt and it is hanging up in my sewing room.

I added a different necklace. It's a button with a crystal glued to it.

Her dog is carrying a bundle of Fat Quarters!

Taking this photo in the sun, shows the quilting more.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my quilt.

Poppies in a Vase Quilt

Close-up of butterfly button
I finally finished this quilt. I had made the top over a year ago and just hadn't taken the time to quilt it. So finally I decided to quilt it. I cut the edges in a wavy shape and used bias binding to bind the quilt. It's done and came out nice and is hanging up now.

Helicopter Quilt

I made this quilt for my grandson who will be 3 years old in November. He loves all kinds of vehicles like trains, airplanes, earth movers, ambulances, police cars and helicopters. So when I saw this Amy Bradley design in a magazine awhile back, I thought my grandson would love it. Amy's designs are always so cute and whimsical, which is perfect for a child. I didn't add a border, but instead made a scrappy binding, which turned out nice, but was a bit hard to deal with in the corners! I hand blanket stitched around the shapes and machine quilted it.
