Slip & Zip Wallet (Size Small)

Christine of ChrisW Designs has created the Slip & Zip Wallets, which are 3 sizes of raw edge wallet patterns (all with free video instructions). I tested just this small wallet, but the medium and large wallets are great too! Each are different, but with similar features. You can read all about these wallets and their features here. Plus, if you purchase the Wallet Bundle to get all 3 wallet patterns, you get a discount. The bundle is 15% off the normal price of the three patterns PLUS during the intro promotions, there is an extra 5% off using the code: introslipzip. Hurry if you want to save. The individual patterns will be available separately for sale after April 10, but they won't be on sale.

Here is my small version, which measures 11cm (4 3/8”) W X 10cm (4”) H X 1.2cm (½”) D.

I thought this vinyl was pretty with the embossed butterflies, dragonflies and flowers. There is a partial dragonfly that you can see in the upper right and left corners. A zipper coin pocket with a welt on the left so that it opens up enough to retrieve your coins.

6 card pockets plus an ID window pocket. Can be made without the clear window too. I think my vinyl or glue or both didn't adhere properly in the center? I know I am not as experienced as the other testers with using vinyl, so not sure what happened, but I am using this wallet and only I can see it and it doesn't bother me.

The Allure Bag with Decorative Stitches on the Flap

I was contacted to make a custom bag for a woman who has purchased other bags from me before. She wanted the Allure Bag (she bought this Allure bag from me a while ago), but she wanted it to have decorative stitches on the flap like this Fiona's Freeway bag I made that she also bought from me awhile back. The Allure bags that I have made are all made at 85% from the original Allure bag size, because after testing The Allure, I found it to be rather large, but at 85% it is a nice size.

The Allure is a ChrisW Design bag. I have tested bags for Christine for over 10 years now and she has the best instructions and really great way of sewing certain things too. So I did sew a few things like other bags I have tested for Christine. I added a zipper overlay on the inside zipper pocket and I quilted the bottom of the bag too, like Christine now does in some of her bags, but the instructions for the Allure doesn't have a quilted bottom or zipper overlay, but it does have her signature hidden phone pocket on the back of the bag.

 The original Allure measures 13 1/2" at the widest point x 10 1/2" at the base x 10" high x 6" deep, whereas the reduced 85% size I made here is approximately 11 1/4" at the widest point x 8 3/4" at the base x 8 1/2" high x 5" deep.

Decorative machine stitches, rickrack, buttons, crystals and hand French knots.

The back side of the bag. I used purple batik and faux cork (cotton fabric).

First time adding a flip lock closure too. I usually do a magnetic snap, but I got some flip locks on sale and wanted to try it.

I added a divided slip pocket with 2 pen pockets on the sides. The lining is a batik fabric too.

QuickStitch Tote from ChrisW Designs

I loved testing this this great looking QuickStitch Tote bag for ChrisW Designs! It's nice and roomy, without being huge. You can use webbing or make fabric handles. You can add the slip pocket to the front or both the front and the back of the bag (like I did). Inside is a zipper pocket with a cool-looking zipper overlay that has 2 credit card slots as well! (Other zipper overlay shapes with 2 credit card slots are also available to purchase separately.  The zipper overlay pdf includes 8 designs and lots of zipper sizes to add to any bag that you want to have a zipper overlay! (It's on sale for a limited time now too)!

Bag measures: 16” wide x 12” high x 4 ½” deep.

I used a couple of woven straps my good friend gave to me that are from Guatemala. They were longer than needed and had fringe on the ends, so I cut the excess length off and will use those cut off pieces in something else I make😉. I added some antique brass rivets for extra security as well as a bit of bling.

Front slip pocket is roomy and perfect for a phone and I added another one on the back of the bag too, which can hold keys or other items.

Say "ahh". I love how wide this bag opens! And there is the zipper overlay with the credit card slots. I used the exterior fabric for the overlay. I love this fabric with the postal cancellation stamps for the lining. If you need more pockets a slip pocket across from the zipper pocket could be added. The tote closes with a magnetic snap and that is why it can open so wide.

If you have a machine that can cut things like a Cricut or Scan 'N Cut, then cutting these overlays would be a great use to be able to cut your cork or vinyl with a machine like that and the SVG files are included in the pdf pattern. Alas, I do not own a machine like that, so I had to hand trace the pattern and hand cut it out. The hardest part to hand cut was the slots for the credit cards as they are so narrow. I think if my material was a bit stiffer, it would have been easier to cut for me.

You can add purse feet as an option, but I should have space them out just a bit more. They do the job, so that's what matters.

The handles were wider than the instructions called for, so I folded the center part in and stitched them to make a nicer grab handle part.

I took this bag to my Stitch Group to show everyone. I had not used it before and placed my knitting inside it. After I shared it during Show & Tell, I was asked if I had others made, which I did not, but said I could make in any color or I could sell this one, and so she bought this bag! Yay! I wasn't expecting that, so it was nice for her and for me! She liked the size and thought it would be a better bag for her knitting and crochet than what she was using. I can always make another for anyone who wants to buy one and they could choose the color they prefer.

Check out the tester's QuickStitch Totes here. On SALE now for 15% off, but hurry as the sale is for a limited time only and in Australian time! And be sure to sign up for Christine's newsletter so you never miss a sale or a freebie as you never know what she might be giving away or heavily discounting only for her newsletter subscribers. It's worth joining. *Hint: sign up for the newsletter to get this tote pattern for free now!

Happy bag toting!

Cross My Body Bag

Christine Welsh of ChrisW Designs has done it again with the Cross My Body Bag! The bag measures approx. 22cm (8 ¾”) W X 22cm (8 ¾”) H X 10cm (4”) D. Features a quilted bag (optional, but makes a sturdy bag), an ingenious recessed zipper closure with no gaps, a hidden front zipper pocket, Christine's signature back phone pocket and an interior zipper pocket. Need a slip pocket? You can add one inside if you want to. I did. I made my bag in scrappy pink & purple batik fabrics with a vinyl accent. You can use all cotton fabric, or use whatever material that you and your machine like. Grab it now while it is on sale. No code needed!

Here is the bag I made~

I used batik scraps of pinks & purples to create this bag. The vinyl accent hides the zipper pocket in front.

the back of the bag sports a phone pocket, which is Christine's signature pocket.

The bottom, front, back and sides of this bag I quilted in a serpentine stitch.

This recessed zipper has an ingenious way of putting it together and there are no gaps at the sides as most recessed zipper closures have.

Back phone pocket.

Inside zipper pocket.

Front hidden zipper pocket is behind the vinyl trim.

Vinyl strap connectors at the sides.

I added a slip pocket with a pen division. A slip pocket is not included in the pattern as it is optional.

The pattern is on sale for a limited time, so if you want to make your own Cross My Body Bag, hop over to ChrisW Designs and get the pdf while it's on sale. Plus there is a video tutorial too! NO code is needed. And please scroll through all the photos to see the other tester bags too.
