The Allure Bag with Decorative Stitches on the Flap

I was contacted to make a custom bag for a woman who has purchased other bags from me before. She wanted the Allure Bag (she bought this Allure bag from me a while ago), but she wanted it to have decorative stitches on the flap like this Fiona's Freeway bag I made that she also bought from me awhile back. The Allure bags that I have made are all made at 85% from the original Allure bag size, because after testing The Allure, I found it to be rather large, but at 85% it is a nice size.

The Allure is a ChrisW Design bag. I have tested bags for Christine for over 10 years now and she has the best instructions and really great way of sewing certain things too. So I did sew a few things like other bags I have tested for Christine. I added a zipper overlay on the inside zipper pocket and I quilted the bottom of the bag too, like Christine now does in some of her bags, but the instructions for the Allure doesn't have a quilted bottom or zipper overlay, but it does have her signature hidden phone pocket on the back of the bag.

 The original Allure measures 13 1/2" at the widest point x 10 1/2" at the base x 10" high x 6" deep, whereas the reduced 85% size I made here is approximately 11 1/4" at the widest point x 8 3/4" at the base x 8 1/2" high x 5" deep.

Decorative machine stitches, rickrack, buttons, crystals and hand French knots.

First time adding a flip lock closure too. I usually do a magnetic snap, but I got some flip locks on sale and wanted to try it.

I added a divided slip pocket with 2 pen pockets on the sides. The lining is a batik fabric too.

She should be receiving this bag by Saturday. I did show her these photos, but there is nothing like seeing it in person.

The Allure Bag with Zippered Closure in Sunflower Print & Uncorked Fabric

I have made several Allure Bags (reduced in size), but I had wanted to try making one with a zippered closure instead of a flap with a snap closure. I had thought about this for some time and then gave it a try.

I used a cotton fabric that looks like cork along with a pretty sunflower fabric. I made a faux looking flap on the front. I think the real flap on The Allure bags does indeed look the best, however for someone who wants a zippered closure this is a good alternative.

With a flap you flip it up and can really see and get into the bag better than the zipper closure, but the zipper closure does keep things secured inside better. I know some women will only use a zippered closure bag and others like flaps or snap closures without flaps, so this is why there are so many styles out there because we all have our own preferences in closures and size and styles of bags.

Purse feet on the bottom to help keep it clean.

Phone pocket is located on the top of back exterior.

Inside is a slip pocket with a pen pocket.

Plus a zippered pocket across from the slip pocket.

Handmade charm for the zipper pull.

Recessed zipper to close the bag.
This bag hopefully will get sold this weekend at the craft show I am selling at. If not it will be going to the November craft show.

The Allure (reduced) in Gray & Black

Here is another Allure bag that I made at 85%. I went with gray and black for this one. The gray print is a home dec fabric and I just thought it was so pretty. As someone who normally loves bright colors, I really like this combination of gray & black.

The pdf is from ChrisW Designs and she has a video for making this bag as well. I have made so many of these now I am beginning to lose count. I have another 3 Allure Bags to show you another day that I have already made too. Trying to stock up for a couple of craft shows. I love this bag and love to try different fabric combinations. I even made one with a zippered closure instead of a flap to see how it would look. Will post about that one in a few days.

The Allure Bag (reduced in size) in Blue Celestial Print

I made another Allure Bag at 85% size, this time in a celestial blue and gold print with gold uncorked fabric. I just love this bag pattern! It's a ChrisW Design bag so you know it has to be great! I have made a lot of these bags at 85%, I think this is the 6th one (plus one at the original size). I have sold 3 of these bags so far, so I need to make more for my autumn craft shows coming up, plus one for me too!

I had just enough fabric of the blue celestial print to make this bag. Paired with the uncorked fabric, I think this bag is a winning combination!
