I didn't want to make this into one large quilt, so I made each block separate, which does make them look more like a packet of seeds. I used batik fabrics, mostly scraps, and then added the batik border around each quilt. I machine blanket stitched and then did hand embroidery for the lettering and other things like stems, tendrils, etc.
Each quilt measures approximately 14" wide x 18" high.
I made corner triangles on the back of all of these little quilts so they can be hung with a dowel inserted into the corner triangles. |
Carrots come in more than just orange. Carrots are also white, yellow, purple and red. I didn't make my bunch in all those colors, but mostly in various shades of orange and one yellow. |
I love the look of Crookneck Squash because it's interesting. Tastes good too! |
I am not sure what I will do with all 9 of these because I don't have room to hang them all unless I hang them up high on the wall above my dining space and kitchen, which is a short wall in height coming down from the ceiling. I will see if Mr. P wants to climb up and hang them there.
I loved making these! Thanks Suzy for your wonderful patterns!

I have this pattern saved. One of these days...LOL!! Seeing them all done is very inspirational. Show us photos of Mr P. gets them hung for you!
ReplyDeleteOh, Daryl! I absolutely adore seed packs and now they are quilts!! Definitely heading over and grabbing this pattern. I need some new inspiration and I think I just received it! Thanks for sharing!! These are great!
ReplyDeleteI saved these as well but doubt I will ever get to them. Too many other patterns ahead in line. :) You did a great job of all of them. What a great display they would make in the dining/kitchen area. Or, you could hang two or three and rotate them.
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute! You could just change them out every so often, just hanging one or two at a time.
ReplyDeletethis is one of my favorite things you have made. the pattern is great, the color choices are perfect, i am growing rainbow carrots, and i adore the embroidery stitches you chose. i think having them as wall hangings is perfect because like you said it gives you that seed packet look. i don't even like tomatoes but i love your quilted ones. great job all around this is definitely on my bucket list of things to make. so inspirational

What cute patterns the seed packets are! You’ve done a great job with them. Batiks are perfect for these designs.
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable! Maybe you could hang just three at a time, when the veggies supposedly come into season?
ReplyDeleteLove them! You made such good use of the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteAdorable and your stitching is superb.
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous, Daryl! I love the combination of your hand embroidery with the machine blanket stitching, which looks awesome, by the way. Which machine do you have, and what kind of thread did you use for that blanket stitching? It looks like it was done by hand, so neat and precise.
