5 The Viewables Zipper Pouches: Tiny to Extra Large

Hello my lovelies. I made The Viewables Pouches (Moments by Liz Design) in all 5 sizes from Tiny-XL. I made the 3 largest for myself. The small I made to giveaway in a zipper pouch swap I joined. I made the tiny in case someone bailed and they needed someone to send a pouch to someone (which I volunteered to do), but I guess for now that hasn't happened.

I love these pouches to use for project bags that I can see what's inside. The sides expand to hold a bit more too. I use them mostly for knitting projects.

You can zip the smaller sizes inside of the larger sizes. Here I have the Medium-Extra large all zipped into the Extra Large size for storing.

This is the Extra Large size. I like to add a handle to grab from the top for the largest sizes.

On the back you can see I both stitched the handle and added a rivet to secure the handle. I LOVE this coneflower with bees fabric!

This is the Medium size. For the Tiny-Medium sizes, I make a longer wrist handle to grab the pouch by. I also rivet it in place.

Stand & Store Baskets

You can use these baskets to hold almost anything. The Itty Bitty is great for holding your sewing clips, and the large and extra large make a nice project bag for knitting, crochet or hand embroidery and more. The small and medium sizes will hold so many other things too, so pick the size you need and sew one up.

I tested the Medium & Large sizes:

This is the inside of the medium bag. Same as the large, except a bit smaller. The only sized that doesn't have the mesh pockets is the Itty Bitty as it's just too itty bitty, lol!

I put up the cuff on the large size and pulled the drawstring closed so you can see and compare how it looks and functions compared to the medium size that still has it's cuff folded down.

Here both bags have drawstrings closed. This makes it great for transporting your basket that might be filled with stuff so the contents stay inside as you carry it elsewhere. Then when you need to access the contents, fold the cuff back down.

You can even nest the 4 sizes inside one another, if you make all 4 sizes. Great way to store the baskets when not in use.

The large is a great knitting project bag. My knit socks are in progress. I pulled the items up to the top to photograph.

Here the items are down inside the bag and you can see there is plenty of room for my knit project and pockets to hold my counter and more.

Flowers in a Denim Pocket Quilt

Hello all my beautiful flowers, it's Plant/Flower Week over on the Therm-o-web blog and I am here to share with you my Flowers in A Denim Pocket Quilt.

I have been upcycling denim jeans to make purses for Sew Powerful Purse Project, but when using hubby's denim jeans, the back pockets are too large for the purse size I need to make. I wanted to be able to use those back pockets in something, so voila, here is my take on Flower week by making appliqué flowers in a denim pocket. I added crystal bling to the quilt and the pocket and some butterfly buttons too.

I used Crafter's Edge Crossover II Cutting Machine and cut out flowers using the Large Flower die cut set, the Increment Circles die cut set, the Flower die cut set and making some flowers from the circles I cut out using my flower tutorial that you can find here. I love how quick and easy it is to use the die cuts from Crafter's Edge. Makes it go so much faster!

I love the new 60" wide Stitch n Sew High Loft Sew-in Fleece

from Therm-o-web. It quilts great and now you can have the extra width for those larger projects.

HeatnBond Lite Iron-On Adhesive is great for appliqué!

4 Matching Zip & Clip Bags

Hello lovely flowers! I was commissioned to make the Zip & Clip Bag and she wanted 4 of them for the women in her family, including herself. I showed her this floral fabric that I had that was bright and bold flowers (she wanted flowers) and she liked it. She wanted black for the main fabric and I used black denim.

The Floral fabric is something I have had for years and it's called, Celebracion, created by Kathy Hall. It's the Museum of New Mexico of International Folk Art, by Andover Fabrics. It was a perfect choice since we live here in New Mexico.

The bag pattern is the Zip & Clip from Around the Bobbin. It's a small minimalist style bag with lots of pockets! I used webbing for the straps in black.

It can be worn as a cross body bag, shoulder bag or a waist bag, all by adjusting the strap.

The floral print is large and packs a punch. So when cutting the flaps, each flap has a different section of the print, making it not quite as identical to the rest.

I chose a different color for the linings to highlight each bag a bit differently. The front zipper pocket can hold a phone.

Looking down into a couple of the bags you can see a slip pocket with a narrow flap, that can hold a passport and across from that pocket is a zipper pocket.

The other 2 lining colors. Oh and when you unzip the inside zipper pocket, there are credit card pockets for placing your cards vertically. And because the pocket zips closed, those cards and cash are nice and secure.

This is a great bag for the minimalist or someone who doesn't carry a lot of things. Also great for travel when you only want to bring the essentials.

Sew Powerful Purses #79-84 (for 2022)

Hello all my lovely purse makers and purse lovers. I have finished making 6 more purses for Sew Powerful Purse Project. These all have scrappy flaps and some I added appliqué to as well. I just love using my scraps to give each purse a unique one-of-a-kind look. No two will ever be exactly alike. So no confusion as to whose purse it is if a girl placed it down.

This purse flap was mostly made of denim scraps and a bit of homespun plaid. That light denim has little glitter dots embedded into the fabric. The body is also denim upcycled from denim jeans.

This is the back of the purse above, using the back pocket of my daughter's denim jeans for the back of the purse. Hubby's jeans have too large of a pocket to use anywhere on these purses, so I will create something else using those pockets. (Hint: something with a denim pocket will be shared fairly soon on my blog).

This one is just scrappy pieced like a crazy quilt and added buttons.

The background was pieced scraps and I added this large flower, which is one of my favorite flower appliqué, but not sure where I got it? I traced it onto a plastic template years ago. Too bad I don't have a die cut for this flower, but I did use circle die cuts for the center pieces.

Scrappy with heart appliqué. I bought this heart die cut recently and love that it has the outer and inner hearts in 2 sizes. I can cut the heart this way or flip the fabric over when I run it through the die cut machine for the heart to be the mirror image of how this one leans. That gives me several possibilities in the way I can use these hearts.

I have more purse kits cut out, so I hope I can get to sewing them soon. But I will have family visiting in June and July, so I will have to sneak a few stitches here and there while they are still asleep in the morning (I get up early).

Reversible Vintage Style Apron

Hello to all you Food Lovers! I hope you all have been inspired by the first two days of this Foodie Blog Hop. I am here to kick off the middle of the week for this blog hop, brought to you by the lovely Carla of Creatin' in the Sticks.

I hope you have eaten your breakfast, lunch or dinner before you hop along, because you are sure to get hungry seeing all these food-inspired projects!

For my project, I decided on making this Vintage Style Apron that is reversible, so I got to use up a couple of foodie fabrics in one project. I actually found the pattern for this apron about 3 years ago at a thrift store. The pattern had never been used, becuase I had to cut the pattern pieces out. It's a pattern called, Chatterbox Apron Pattern by Mary Mulari (if you ever watched Sewing with Nancy, you know that Mary was the most frequent guest on Nancy's show over the years.

And here is my version (or should I say versions, since it's 2-sided)?

Hard to get a really good photo, since I don't have a model. This fabric is all about baking tools. I used a red polka fabric as the accent fabric on the pockets, neckline, neck strap and waist ties.

This side of the apron features a retro-looking fabric of a woman (or women) cooking. I used another polka dot accent fabric with larger dots in an aqua color and placed the aqua fabric in the same places as the reverse side.
