Cloud, Sun & Rainbow Cuddle Teethers

These adorable Cuddle Teethers are from Around the Bobbin patterns and are fast and easy to make! I tested these using flannel fabric, but you can also use Minky or other soft material too. The pattern comes with the safe silicone teether, which can easily be removed when you need to wash the cuddle part or the teether. Silicone rings are also sold separately in case you want to make more of these or use one of the other patterns from Around the Bobbin that also uses teethers.

The pattern, Rain or Shine is on sale 25% off (no code needed) for just a few days, so if you have a wee little one in your life or will be having one soon, grab the pattern while it's on sale and you can whip up one or all in just a few hours. These make great baby gifts too!

Rain cloud finishes at approx. 5 in x 8 1/2 in

Mini Sun finishes at approx. 2 1/2 in x 2 1/2 in

Rainbow finishes at approx. 5 in x 8 1/2 in

The ribbons makes a nice tactile fiddle toy as well as a teether to cuddle.

Here is the cloud with the sun.

This is the rainbow, of course. I decided to use a couple decorative stitches on my rainbow for a bit of added interest.

Be sure and pop over to Around the Bobbin patterns and grab the pattern while it's on sale at 25% off! No code needed. Check out the other great patterns while you are there too. So many great patterns from quilts to bags to baby cuddles to trivets, oven mitts and more!

Fabric Mini Wallet

I tested this Fabric Mini Wallet for Around the Bobbin patterns. It was a really fast and easy sew. The pattern is on sale for 25% off and no code is needed! Grab it while it is on sale ( sale is just for a few days) and whip up a few of these wallets for gifts.

The wallet measures 3" x 4 3/4". So it is small enough to fit in any bag, a pocket, or you could add a hook to hook on your belt loop of your jeans. You can add a keyring too and use the wallet as a key fob wallet too! Or add a lanyard with a swivel hook and hook it on the keyring and wear it like a necklace. See how versatile it can be? And those are just a few of the things that I thought of.

There are 2 card pockets, a cash pocket, a zippered pocket for coins (or cash too) and a loop for a key ring (or swivel hook).

The back side.

Here you can see the zippered pocket and the slip pocket as well as the card pockets.

Sew Powerful Purse #202 (2024)

Another purse to donate to Sew Powerful. So far all the stenciled flaps that I have made need to be lower on the flap! I had eyeballed where the flap folds over to the back, but apparently I didn't eyeball enough! At least I have been consistent and all the stencils need to be lower on the flap when I stencil them again.😜

Another stencil that I need to lower down on the flap more so her head doesn't get cut off for the future flaps that I stencil.

Front with pocket and the yummy looking cupcake flap lining!

Flap opened out so you can see the entire flap.

Sew Powerful Purse #201 (2024)

Another stenciled flap, but this time it is a hand with rings on her thumb and finger, wearing a bracelet while holding a string of beads. I painted the dots for the background and then added the stencil. Crystals I added in the center of the string of beads.

With the flap opened out like this you can see the entire stencil.

Sew Powerful Purse #200 (2024)

Here she is the 200th purse finished to donate to Sew Powerful Purse Project for this year! Yay!!!

Here is another, but different stenciled flap of an African woman.  As with the others that I posted and shared the past few days, this one was also up too high on the flap and cutting off the top of her head, so it too will be lowered down when I stencil more. I was afraid of lowering it too much this time as it would cut into her neck too much. These stencil might be a bit too large for the flaps, but I love them and there won't be any other purses made like this! At least I haven't seen anyone else use stencils at all on the purses that I have seen at least.

Buttons & crystals for some bling.

Sew Powerful Purses #198-199 (2024)

2 more painted, stenciled, African women on the purse flaps. I made these before realizing the top of the heads would be folded back and cut off a bit, so next time I paint the stencils, I will be lowering the stencils down a bit on these and some other stencils I have too. I need to measure them and mark on the side of the stencil so that I know in the future where to place them. They still look good this way, but I want to see the entire head next time.

Added buttons and crystals for some girly bling!

Backs of each purse with pockets. The pocket on the right I stitched the ribbon and the yarn over the seams, since I had to piece the pocket to make it large enough. I hope it doesn't look too odd? At least it will be worn against the girl's body and not seen, except by her.

Two more purses to be donated to Sew Powerful. The next purse I share will be the 200th purse I completed for this year! But I have a lot more purses that I have made and am still making, so the end of the year total could exceed 300 purses this year if I get more sewn and completed by then.🤞

Sew Powerful Purse #197 (2024)

I painted a different stencil on this flap for a Sew Powerful Purse Project purse. Part of her head ended up on the back side of the purse, so I need to bring the stencil down more when I stencil another one of these flaps but then her hand and dress will get cut off when lowering it down 😥.

I will need to lower the stencil down on the next one I do so that her head is not cut off!

Here you can see the entire stencil when the purse is laid out like this. I appliquéd a flower onto the back pocket too. I do have some ideas for painting the white background for the next batches of stencils I create.

Sew Powerful Purse #196 for 2024

Happy Scrappy Flappy purse for Sew Powerful Purse Project with upcycled denim jeans body.

Hexagon center with pieced strips all around it made Log Cabin style. It is an interesting look. The girls love purple and orange colors, so this one should be well received.

Sew Powerful Purse #195 for 2024

Another purse to donate to Sew Powerful Purse Project, and another purse using  and upcycled Starbucks tee shirt as well as upcycled denim jeans too.

"Smooth" was part of the tee shirt from Starbucks and I added batik fabric above and below it and the fabric cups of coffee by appliquéing them onto the flap. A few added heart buttons for some bling completes the flap.

Denim jeans were used for the purse body.

back of purses with pocket and appliqué flower on pocket
A flower that I appliquéd onto the jean pocket before sewing it onto the back of the purse. The pocket barely fits as you can see at the bottom and the top. These were men's jeans and the pockets are a bit too large to fit these purses, but I want to use the pockets when I can. Maybe I need to cut the pockets down smaller in the future so I can use them? I will try one and see how it works and looks before I go cutting them all smaller.

2024 Sew-a-thon Bronze Level Prize Winner #2 Completed the Purses!!!

I emailed Laura that I would be sending her the Prize that she won from me (5 purse flaps). I mailed them the next day after emailing her. (I also emailed the other winner of 5 flaps for prize #1 set of flaps too). Laura was kind to send me an email when the purse flaps arrived to her, which happened to be on October 15th that they were received.

Then Laura shared this photo on our Facebook group Saturday the 19th (actually it was a comment in the posting that I shared the 2 prizes of flaps). Her photo was sideways, so I turned it and added the text to the photo. Wow! She was not only fast in making these, but they turned out great! She chose the perfect fabrics to compliment the flaps. 5 girls will be thrilled to receive these purses.

Sew-a-thon winner of a set of 5 flaps

Thanks so much Laura for taking the time to share this photo of the completed purses with me. I appreciate it so much!

Haven't heard a peep from the other prize winner. She is not in the Facebook group. I did email her, but it is possible it went to SPAM, however, I did enclose 2 of my business cards along with the flaps and it does have my email on the cards. I have checked my Spam box and nothing there and I check often. It doesn't cost people anything to thank a business or a person for winning a prize, even if they don't like the prize they won. At least an acknowledgement that the prize was received would have been appreciated, but nothing? It leaves me feeling let down.😢 I have had Covid since the 6th and still am not 100% better yet. I haven't been able to do much at all, so was at least hoping my prizes were well received.  At least this one was! Thanks Laura!

Halloween Quilt~ "Something Wicked Blog Hop"

Welcome to all of you ghouls, witches, warlocks, goblins, ghosts, bats, werewolves and more to the Wicked Blog Hop. Carol of Just Let Me Quilt is the Queen of Halloween (hey that rhymes 😁) or maybe I should say the Witch or Ghoul of Halloween? Anyhow, Halloween is her thing and she even has a creepy bunny that she displays each year to prove it 😂. Now me, I have never been a huge Halloween buff, but I do like seeing how creative people get with their displays and costumes.
I normally don't make Halloween stuff either, but my friend, Julie, happened to give me a bag of some Halloween fabrics in all different prints and sizes and I had seen a pattern that I thought was so cool looking that I wanted to try making a quilt with that pattern. So I decided to use the Halloween fabrics that Julie gave me along with the lime green, black glittery fabric with eyes that I had already and I used orange fabric that I had for the binding too. I just love how cool and interesting this quilt turned out! I have ideas for making this quilt again with other fabrics. Thanks Julie for the Halloween fabrics!

The pattern is BQ3 from Maple Island Quilts, designed by Debbie Bowles. It has 2 sizes of blocks and I made the smaller block size as I wouldn't have enough of the Halloween fabric to go any larger. I got scrappy with this because of the Halloween prints that I had. Luckily I had enough of the lime green fabric and the black glittery fabric with the green eyes. This is one way to set the quilt. You can play around and set the quilt in other ways too.

There are other BQ patterns too from Maple Island Quilts as well and they are all such interesting looking quilts, but easy to do. Hint: You can also go to Sewing with Nancy on YouTube for the episode on how to make this very quilt. Debbie shows you how to make the larger blocks for this quilt.

I just had to use this font for the blog hop too. The font is a free download called Werewolf Moon,
which is perfect for this blog hop. 🐺🌕(But apparently you might not see the font if you are reading this on a phone or tablet, except in the photos only. The font shows up on my desktop computer, but not my tablet 🙄).

Close up
The whole quilt measures  45.75" x 54.25".

close up
The fabric with the eyes 👀 has pairs of eyes set far apart on the fabric, so no matter how it was cut, the eyes were no longer a pair, but still look a bit spooky, mysterious and creepy as they peer out at you around the quilt. I feel the Addams Family theme song should be sung here 😄. I bought the eye 👀 fabric at a thrift store a few years ago. There was maybe 2 yards of it? Have no clue who designed or made this fabric print, but I like it.

This quilt was donated to Project Linus, in time for some child to enjoy before Halloween.

Purple and black polar fleece backing
I used a purple and black polar fleece for the backing. No batting. The purple is much darker in person. I find purple a hard color to photograph as it photographs lighter or more blue usually. Polar fleece is a lint catcher too as you can see 😜!
