Cash/Card Wallet

Liz, of Moments by Liz, designed this quick to make Cash/Card Wallet so you could use up small scraps of materials that don't unravel, such as cork, vinyl, leather, Kraftex, etc. But I sew in cotton, so I made some changes and added a seam allowance, interfacing and a lining fabric so I could make one out of cotton. Even with the extra steps I had, it still was a quick project and a great use to using up smaller bits of fabric. I am very happy with the results.

These are great for business cards, ID card, credit card or folded cash. There is only one pocket to hold just a couple items.

Clearly Organized (Knitting) Bag with Boxed Corners

Last month I made a couple of Clearly Organized Bags (Around the Bobbin Pattern). Those bags have clear vinyl on the front and the back of the bags and are also flat, which is great for storing your next fabric project. But I wanted to use one of mine for knitting project bag and it really needed some depth to the bag, so I thought, why not box the corners of the bag? I also needed to make other changes for this to work too and I am pleased it turned out and now I have a new project bag!

One of the other changes was to use only one clear vinyl window. I also quilted the back of the bag and the lower front of the bag to make it a bit sturdier. I like that this bag can stand on it's own.

This is the largest bag and I added a couple more inches to the bottom to accommodate the boxed corners. My latest knitting project is a scarf requested by Mr. P. As you can see there is plenty of room to put a larger project inside this bag in the future.

I have used this print in a different colorful colorway for other knitting bags before, but I only had a smaller amount of this colorway of gray, red, white and black.

I have one more piece of vinyl left the same size as I used on this bag, so I could make another bag just like this in another color or I could make some more changes on how I sewed this bag and see if I can improve it a bit more. I do love this bag, but have another idea, so we shall see. Meanwhile, this is the perfect bag for holding my knitting project.

Those other 2 Clearly Organized Bags (that I tested) in the 2 largest sizes are going to hold some fabric for the next 2 bags I make. So now I can make these bags flat or with boxed bottoms, making it more versitile.

6 Clematis Pouches with Boxed Bottoms

The Clematis (Wristlet) Pouch (Blue Calla Design) is normally sewn with darts in the corners, but I prefer boxed corners so these can stand up. It is also sewn with a wrist strap on the original. I enlarged the first 5 pouches below, so they are a nice size that measures 10 3/4" wide x 8" high x 2 1/2"deep. The last one is the original size, but a with boxed bottom and it measures 9 3/4" wide x 7" high  x 2" deep.

I used a faux cork on the bottom of all of these pouches. All have a pocket inside the pouch too, but one I added 2 pockets because I had forgotten that I had already cut out a pocket, so oh well why not add a second packet to that pouch? LOL.

I love this fabric with the train words on it. I had a little left from another project (that I can't show you just yet), so made this pouch with the leftover fabric. I also have the same fabric with a white background that I haven't used yet. This and the rest below, except for the last pouch, are enlarged versions measuring 10 3/4" wide x 8" high x 2 1/2"deep.

I chose this green print  for the lining and inside pocket.

I had enough of this button fabric to make 2 identical bags, which is rare for me to make 2 exactly the same inside and out.

Both of the above bags have the same lining and pocket too.

This red fabric with the circles went so well with the faux cork bottom.

This is the bag that I made 2 pockets, one on each side. The red pocket has a pen pocket division (as do all the pockets on these pouches I made.

I made a second pocket with a snap to keep it closed because I didn't sew a dividing line.

I have had this red fabric with the little chicks on it for quite a long time. I had a few yards of it when I first bought it and have used it here and there in other projects. It was time to use it in a bag. Pairs so well with the faux cork.

This is the original size pouch, just with the boxed corners instead. I had a strip of this fabric and it was the right width I needed to use for this bag. Measures: 9 3/4" wide x 7" high  x 2" deep.

10 Gnome Fabric Postcards

This was a recent custom order for 10 Christmas postcards. I chose to make them all gnomes, but 3 different gnomes. I used mostly batik fabric. I used a gray and white fabric that I use for beards that I bought decades ago.

I hope all the recipients of these postcards love them. They would be great framed too.

Beryl Pouch

I found another zippered pouch I hadn't blogged about. This is the Beryl Pouch (Moments by Liz Design). The Beryl is one of the zippered pouches included in the pdf called Little Gems. I made this pouch and gave it away as a door prize last year at a craft show I sold at.

Patchwork Pencil or Pen Pouch

I can't believe I have some things that I never blogged about. This is one of them. I made this last year. It's a pencil/pen pouch made out of scrappy patchwork I pieced a while ago. I think it was the tutorial from Noodlehead (but I am not 100% positive, it could be a similar pattern)?

Using up blue scraps of fabric, I create a patchwork fabric for making this pouch.

Cici Too Cosmetic Pouch & Simple Zipper Pouch

I have a couple of small zippered pouch patterns that I have been wanting to try, so I made one and had enough of the main print left to make the other one. The purple accent fabrics are different on each bag because I used scraps I had for the purple. 

Both bags look good and are close to the same size. The zipper installation on each bag was sewn slightly different. I like the bottom accent piece on the Cici Too bag on the left a bit better because it has more shape than just a straight across bottom as in the Simple Zip pouch on the right. Do you have a bag preference?

The Simple Zipper Pouch is a tutorial I found online years ago, called Boxed Pouches. That name sort of implied they would be a boxy shape like a shoe box, so I didn't want to call it that.

The Cici Too Pouch measures 8 1/2" wide x 5" high x 3" deep.

Inside the Cici Too is a pocket that I sewed patchwork style and divided it with a pen pocket on the left.

This is the Simple Pouch interior without a pocket.

Both similar enough pouches, but I prefer the bottom accent to the Cici Too pouch, so I will make more of those, but I might tweak the way the zipper is installed on it.
