Clematis Pouch with Boxed Corners in Two Sizes

I made these Clematis pouches last year. I boxed the corners on them and some I enlarged. I used foam stabilizer in all of these pouches.

The enlarged pouches are enlarged 10% to measure 10 3/4" wide x 8" high x 2 1/2"deep. (Except that the cactus one is an inch shorter).

The original size pouch is the pink and black one below; measuring 9 3/4" wide x 6" high  x 2" deep. The last pouch (also the original size) with coyotes and a red bottom is an inch higher.

This one is enlarged by 10% and I just boxed the corners without adding any height to the bottom accent piece. It looks great, but I thought it should have more of the bottom accent piece showing, so I added about an inch to the bottom of the rest I made.

I added a zipper pocket to the outside of this bag to try it. While I do like the zipper pocket, it adds cost to the bag, which also adds to the time to make the bag and therefore I do have to charge more money for this one, so I won't add zippered pockets to anymore of these pouches unless it is a custom order that is requested.

Inside is a slip pocket too.

I made this one at the same time as the one above and it is the original size. I also didn't add any height to the bottom.

This is the original size pouch, except I added an inch in height to make the bottom taller.

This is enlarged 10% and I made this for Mr. P. as he loves astronomy. I used a cotton faux cork bottom.

Of course it's made with love for my hubby.

Inside is a divided slip pocket.

6 Clematis Pouches with Boxed Bottoms

The Clematis (Wristlet) Pouch (Blue Calla Design) is normally sewn with darts in the corners, but I prefer boxed corners so these can stand up. It is also sewn with a wrist strap on the original. I enlarged the first 5 pouches below, so they are a nice size that measures 10 3/4" wide x 8" high x 2 1/2"deep. The last one is the original size, but a with boxed bottom and it measures 9 3/4" wide x 7" high  x 2" deep.

I used a faux cork on the bottom of all of these pouches. All have a pocket inside the pouch too, but one I added 2 pockets because I had forgotten that I had already cut out a pocket, so oh well why not add a second packet to that pouch? LOL.

I love this fabric with the train words on it. I had a little left from another project (that I can't show you just yet), so made this pouch with the leftover fabric. I also have the same fabric with a white background that I haven't used yet. This and the rest below, except for the last pouch, are enlarged versions measuring 10 3/4" wide x 8" high x 2 1/2"deep.

I chose this green print  for the lining and inside pocket.

I had enough of this button fabric to make 2 identical bags, which is rare for me to make 2 exactly the same inside and out.

Both of the above bags have the same lining and pocket too.

This red fabric with the circles went so well with the faux cork bottom.

This is the bag that I made 2 pockets, one on each side. The red pocket has a pen pocket division (as do all the pockets on these pouches I made.

I made a second pocket with a snap to keep it closed because I didn't sew a dividing line.

I have had this red fabric with the little chicks on it for quite a long time. I had a few yards of it when I first bought it and have used it here and there in other projects. It was time to use it in a bag. Pairs so well with the faux cork.

Inside with a pocket.

This is the original size pouch, just with the boxed corners instead. I had a strip of this fabric and it was the right width I needed to use for this bag. Measures: 9 3/4" wide x 7" high  x 2" deep.

Purple lining.

All these pouches are going into my inventory for craft shows (hopefully) next year. If you want to purchase one, please email me and let me know which pouch or pouches that you would like to buy. I invoice through PayPal. Total cost including shipping is $30 each pouch. All of these pouches have SOLD.

Clematis Pouches with Boxed Corners

I made a lot of Clematis Wristlets (Blue Calla pattern) over a year ago, about 30 of them , but they did not sell very well. So I reduced the price on them and most of them sold. I don't think people here like wristlets. Clematis is a cute looking pouch so I was surprised it didn't sell well.

I got to thinking recently what if I were to box the corners of the bag instead of sewing darts and not add a wristlet strap, so I tried this and the following Clematis's are the results I got.

I love the look and because of the boxed corners, the pouch will stand up on it's own now since it has boxed corners too. I made this one using fleece. After making this I made a couple more that I used foam stabilizer in and I think I prefer the foam.

Inside is a slip pocket.
These next Clematis Pouches are made with foam stabilizer. The one on the right is the size the pattern is, and I enlarged the one on the left with the cactus print to 110%. I like the slightly larger size, but I will make both sizes, depending on the amount of fabric that I have on hand. The black print I only had a small amount of that fabric and it was just enough to make this bag, so this original size was perfect to use up the fabric piece I had.

As you can see when the bag is sitting on its own the pink bottom gets a bit lost in the center. So the next Clematis pouches I made I increased the bottom accent fabric and made it a bit taller so that it shows more and is more balanced.  It still looks nice like this, but I think I prefer the bottom just a bit taller.

The back of the bag so you can see the rest of the print here.

Inside there is one slip pocket.

Pocket.

Isn't this a cute cactus print?

I added a back zippered pocket to this larger Clematis, which is nice, but I don't think I will add a zippered pocket to any more unless I get a request to add one.

Inside slip pocket.
Next are the Clematis Pouches that I made where I added a bit more height to the bottom accent piece. I think it looks more balanced and you can really see the bottom accent better in these pouches.

This is the original size with the added height on the accent bottom.

Inside with a slip pocket.

I made this one in the larger (110%) size. I used uncorked fabric for the accent. My hubby likes spacey stuff, so I made this bag for him.

Of course it was made with love!

The smaller Clematis and the larger Clematis.
I am so glad I decided to box the corners of this bag, because I love this pouch, but not as a wristlet and not as much with darts in the corners. It is a roomier bag now and so useful to holding all kinds of items.

Enlarged Clematis Bag in Patchwork

I made a scrappy patchwork Clematis bag that I enlarged and added an adjustable strap to as well. The original pattern is a smaller wristlet bag. The pattern is free from Blue Calla Designs. I like changing things on bags that I make, like making them larger or smaller, adding an adjustable strap so it can be worn across the body or on the shoulder and fit a variety of woman, and adding additional pockets too.

Inside the bag is a divided slip pocket with pen pockets and a zippered pocket too.

I quilted the bag in wavy lines.
