The Quick No Zip Cross Body Bag

Another great bag pattern from ChrisW Designs, called The Quick No Zip Cross Body Bag. And the pattern is ON SALE!!! Free video tutorial too!

This bag measures 5 1/2" wide x 9 1/2" H x 1 1/2" deep.

I made mine artsy using batik scraps, hand dyed fabric, quilting and yarn couching, plus some buttons and crystals for bling.

20% off NO CODE NEEDED for ONE week - Ends Midnight Thursday 29th June 2023 AUSTRALIAN Eastern Standard Time.

The bag includes a key pocket on the front of the bag under the flap.

You can see the size of the bag here one me. It's small, but has room for the essentials.

Close up of my artsy flap, quilted, buttons, couched yarn.

I used the batik quilted piece to create the inside card pocket, which will hold a few cards. It's hard to see in the photos, but the pocket has a nice shape curved higher on one side.

The instructions call for an adjustable strap, but I didn't have the small size slider, so I made a fixed strap instead, and lots of rivets.

The key pocket under the flap on the front.

Back of bag has Christine's signature phone pocket for quick and easy access. You can see the quilting I did on the hand dyed fabric here too.

Check out all these videos and the tester bags to get ideas of fabrics to use. They all made some great Quick No Zip Bags using a variety of materials too. Grab the pattern while it is on sale! It is quick to sew (as long as you don't make an artsy quilted one like I did, lol)!!!

Granny Squares Quilt

I made the Granny Squares Quilt blocks quite a while ago. I got them out and stitched them together into a top. It sat for months. I finally quilted it with a walking foot and diagonal lines. The quilt measures 47" x 59".

I know the surrounding white triangles (that form diamonds when the blocks are sewn...well in my case wonky diamonds, lol!!!) are not perfect. Sewing each block was easy enough, but then those white pieces, well I just had no idea how to make sure they stayed perfectly square, especially when sewing them later to the adjacent blocks. The overall look of this quilt turned out nice and I am pleased using up lots of colorful scraps, but Granny Squares are not a quilt I will make again, unless there is a better and simpler method for squaring them up perfectly?

I thought I would take to the gift shop to see if by chance it would sell at all. If not, I would donate it. Well I was pleasantly surprised that it sold! I didn't charge much for it and if someone liked colorful, then I thought it might sell. I hope the person who bought it loves it!

Catnip Kitties Stuffed Cat Toys

I bought The Catnip Kitties pattern awhile ago on Makerist.com It is a Red Boot Quilt Company pattern. I finally made a couple of these kitties, but I did hand embroidery for the long part under the nose instead of the wider appliqué shown in the pattern. I also added an appliqué heart to the front of the cat. I used flannel fabrics to make the cats soft and cuddly.

These are in the local gift shop to see if they will sell. You never know what sells there, so if they don't sell they will be donated later.

The back side has a tail that I made out of yarn that I twisted together.

This tail is made with eyelash yarn for a fuzzy look.

Here is the pair of Catnip Kitties.

Emma Half Moon Bag (Plus Pattern on Sale Limited Time)

*SALE* Scroll to the very end to grab your discount code for this bag pattern, which is only on sale for a short time!

I loved testing this bag for Lisa from Around the Bobbin. I knew when I first saw the photo of Emma Half Moon Bag, from Around the Bobbin, that I wanted to make this bag for my last living Aunt. I had some "Night at the Opera" fabric prints and "All that Jazz" fabric print and another musical print, so I wanted to use as many of those prints as I could in this bag and still have it look good. I used 4 different exterior prints plus another print for the lining with one of the exterior prints for the interior slip pocket too. My Aunt will turn 87 in late September, but I will send it to her soon so she can use it when she goes to the operas and musicals in St. Louis. She has season tickets to the opera. She was a singer herself, singing in musicals and other venues. She visited us last July and my daughter, Aunt & I attended the opera in Santa Fe. Making this bag as a cross body bag, allows her to adjust it to wear as she wants to. I even made a small card wallet to match the bag.

Emma finishes at approximately 8 H x 12 W x 3 D. (My last dog was name Emma, she was a Golden Retriever and the sweetest dog ever! I miss her).
Since the front and the back are sewn in 2 separate pieces, I knew I wanted to use 2 different coordinating fabrics for this bag.

On the gusset I used another print.

I interrupt showing you the Emma Half Moon Bag to share the matching card wallet I made to go with this bag. It is NOT an Around the Bobbin pattern, but I wanted to share this wallet too.

This is the card wallet I made to match the bag. It is NOT an Around the Bobbin pattern. I just wanted to share it here since it matches the bag.

Inside the card wallet. Again, this is NOT an Around the Bobbin pattern. I just made it to match the bag for my Aunt.

Okay, now back to the rest of the photos of the Emma Half Moon Bag:
The back of the bag has a slip pocket with a magnetic snap closure.

Looking down into the back slip pocket with magnetic snap closure.

Another fabric for the lining, and I repeated one of the exterior fabrics for the divided slip pocket. I divided this pocket so there is a pen pocket in the center.

Interior divided slip pocket where the center pen pocket is. The pocket can be divided any way you like.

Even a zipper pocket inside too. I hope my Aunt likes the You look beautiful label too.

*The Emma Half Moon Bag* is on SALE now too! Use the code: MOON25 to get 25% off from June 9-11 EOD Sunday Central time.

Check out Lisa's Blog for the tester's version of Emma Half Moon too.

Happy Bag Sewing!

Pan Protectors in 3 Sizes

Around the Bobbin has two new patterns out now. This pattern is Pan Protectors (in 3 sizes) and the Itty Bitty Bowler Bags (that I also posted today). Both are on sale right now, using the Coupon code of NEW30 to get 30% off Friday through end of day Monday (midnight CST 5/29/23). Why not grab both patterns now while you can get the discount? Both the Pan Protectors & the Itty Bitty Bowler Bags would make great gifts for any occasion!

Here are the ones I tested. I used 2 fabrics, so they can be reversible too. These are such a quick sew and so very useful too!

This is the fabric on one side.

Pots & pans all stacked up with the Pan Protectors doing their job and protecting them from getting scratches.

The yellow side is up on 2 of these sizes. Stacked like this they look like a flower.

Just the pans here (I took the pot in the other photo off) so you can see them in action and how they fit.

2 sizes here.

All 3 here, but with the yellow side in the middle this time.

Itty Bitty Bowler Bags in 2 Sizes

Around the Bobbin has a new pattern, called Itty Bitty Bowler Bags and it so cute and useful too. I love testing bags and this was so fun to make. I made both sizes and used the same batik fabrics on each bag, but in reverse. They were a pretty quick sew too.

This pattern as well as the new Pan Protectors pattern are both on sale right now for a few days only! Coupon code is NEW30 to get 30% off Friday through end of day Monday (midnight CST 5/29/23). The code works for both patterns too.

Here is my version of the Itty Bitty Bowler Bags~

This is the large size.

This is the small size.

The large easily hold 6 spools of thread and I could have place one more at the end.

Here is the large with nothing inside. Oh, and there is no binding inside at all!

The small size filled with sewing clips.

Small & Large side by side to show the size difference.

Be sure and grab your pattern(s) now while they are on sale for a few days. Plus, check out my next post about the Pan Protectors too as those are on sale too, using the same code and the same days.
