Sisters Quilt

Last year I entered the Sisters Quilt Block Contest (read about the contest here) and I was one of the honorable mention winners. I received my own block back and 17 more blocks. Half of those were hand sewn blocks that were made by Japanese women. Here is the block that I made:
This is the block that I made for the QBC (quilt block contest). I received a blue fabric packet and some others received green fabrics.
My block hanging in the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show last year, with an honorable mention ribbon attached. (Sun was shinning bright so the ribbon didn't show up very well.)
My block is the 4th down from the top on the left side of the quilt. As you can see some people had green fabric packets and others blue. I chose to use the blocks I won as the border to this quilt.
I created a scrappy neutral background and added the appliques. Sisters has a dual meaning. First this quilt will be on display at the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show in July and it also represents me and my sister.
Hubby helping to hold this up for a photo, lol.
The label I created for the back of the quilt. I included all the women who made the blocks on the front and where they are from.

  5. Your quilt is just AMAZING, Daryl!!! The whole quilt is spectacular - everything just works together. The alternate blue / green blocks look great. And I just adore the sisters with their blue skin picking up the blue from the blocks. Claudia is one lucky sister!!!

  7. I would be shocked if you didn't win at sisters with this quilt. it is just fabulous and brilliant in its construction. It so sweet how you have "sisters" as the center and how you used the other blocks and acknowledged them. the details are fantastic and the overall look is just gorgeous. this is a winner.

  8. So handsome! So thoughtful! I feel that the way you made this quilt (front and back) represent you. I don't know you personally but I think I'm guessing right--by reading this post and looking at your quilt, especially the back--that you are a very thoughtful person who take care of others, known or unknown to you. I'm sure you're a generous woman. :-)
