Herringbone String Quilt

My husband is hard on furniture wearing out the upholstery. He knows it and he asked me to make him something to cover the arm of the sofa where he sits. I decided to make essentially a small quilt that will be long enough that it won't slide off the arm of the sofa and I backed it in flannel so that it would cling to the sofa arm too. Since the sofa is a medium brown color, I grabbed my brown scrap bag and decided to use whatever brown scraps I had. It's a great scrap-busting project too. Here is the result and I think it works very nicely and saves the arm of the sofa too, lol!!

I made this small quilt in the string quilt style, which is fast and easy and no seams need to match.

Here is it sitting on the arm of the sofa.

It hangs down extra long on the side of the arm.

Also it's long enough to cover the inside arm too.
