Playing Dolphins Quilt

Dolphin quilt (2)
Playing Dolphins. I made this quilt top over 12 years ago and just recently finished quilting and binding it. I think my daughter will be getting this one as she wanted it when I first started it. But now that my husband has seen it, he thinks he wants it. We'll keep it until my daughter's birthday next month, then I'm sure she will be hanging it on her wall.

I quilted the dolphin blocks each a bit differently.

P.S. This was from the book Go Wild With Quilts Again by Margaret Wolfe. It is not paper-pieced. Pin It Now!

Jacket & Pants

Jacket & Pants
I made a short sleeve lightweight jacket with matching pants. The fabric is very drapey and light. My friend Tara gave me the fabric and it was the perfect amount to make this matching set. Thanks Tara!

Dots on Dots Blog Hop

Thanks to the Madame Samm, the queen of blog hops and her cheerleader/organizer, Corrie from Quilt Taffy for presenting the Dots on Dots Blog Hop. Today is my day to show you what I created. I love applique so I made several applique blocks.
This is Miss Dotty.

I added some chicken wire fabric for the border and the binding. Miss Dotty, the finished quilt is now hanging in my kitchen.

Three pink polka dot piggies! I used watercolor pencils to paint the background fabric on this block.

Three pink polka dot piggies is now a pillow! (say that 3 times fast). This one I am giving to my daughter who loves pink piggies.

All the fabrics here have dots on them.

This one I created dots using fabrics that I appliqued.

A closer photo gives this block a different look.
I had a lot of fun making these blocks and quilts. Now go and see what these other quilters made.
Here is today's schedule for the Dots-on-Dots blog hop:

Teacup or Coffee Quilt

Teacup Or Coffee Quilt
I had made these teacup blocks years ago and finally decided to put them together into a small wall quilt. I had sewed a doily under each block when I made the blocks. I added some wording using rubber stamps and ink. I embroidered the teacup handles and the steam by hand.

Blue Knit Pullover Sweater

blue sweater
I knit this sweater using a blue worsted weight yarn and a white mohair-like yarn held together as I knit to create a bulky weight yarn.

Watermarking Your Photos

Connie from Free Motion by the River wrote a tutorial about how to watermark your photos for your blog. You might want to check it out. I had watermarked some of my photos several months ago, but because it takes time to do each photo I had stopped doing it. As Connie and others have pointed out, you should watermark so when people pin your photos on Pinterest or other sites, it gives you credit and prevents theft of you photos. So after reading a lot about watermarking and theft lately, I decided to start watermarking my photos again.

I had also wanted to piggyback on Connie's tutorial and tell you that in addition to the site she uses, there are a lot of other sites that are free that you can download for doing the watermarks, cropping, resizing your photos, etc. If you have the Paint Program on your computer, you can use it to watermark, crop, resize and more. This is the program that I use as it came with my computer. Some programs out there are easier to use than others. I downloaded one and it went through more steps to watermark than my Paint program did. So try one of the free programs that are out there and see if you like using it. If there are things you don't like about the program then try another one until you find one that suits you.

It certainly takes a lot of work to create a simple posting on a blog and if it's a tutorial, well that's hours and hours and even days to create a good tutorial. So when bloggers offer you a free tutorial, please realise how much of their time goes into creating one and leave them a nice comment. It only takes a minute to leave a comment. Comments are akin to an audience's applause. When a blogger knocks themselves out writing up a tutorial to share and they don't receive any comments it's sort of like being an actor (singer, comedian, etc.) on a stage and no one claps at the end of their performance. Comments are what keeps a lot of bloggers going. Plus you make a friend in the process.

More Flannel Pajamas

Flannel pjs for Zane (1)
Here is the finished top and the bottoms again too. I made these for my grandson.

flannel pjs for me
I made these pj's for myself. I had to pin the pants to the dress form to take the photo. Do they make pants forms? Maybe for men? I don't think I've seen any before.

Oh Look What I Bought Today!

I was at the store this morning and just happened to see this cute tape dispenser! It actually comes with stick-on rhinestones so you can add some *bling* if you want to dress up this cute high heel (or should I call it a stiletto?) I'll probably gift it to my daughter. Neither of us have ever worn stilettos. It's sure cute for tape, but I'd never wear shoes like these!

Julia in Sacramento...

...please email me in regards to dying wool with prickly pear cactus juice. You emailed me and you are a no-reply-comment @blogger. I cannot answer your questions if I don't have an email to respond to. I don't know if you will go back to that posting I wrote over a year ago about dying the yarn if I left a comment there for you, so if you want answers please email me.

And to the rest of you who make comments (here or anywhere else in blogland), please make sure you either have an email address (if you want a response) or write your email address after your comment so that the blogger can respond back. (This is really important if you enter a giveaway hoping to win something, because if there is no way to contact you there is no way for you to win anything that you entered.) If you are afraid of spammers grabbing your email address then you can type it out like this: patchouli dot moon dot studio at gmail dot com
