I quilted the koi fish with bubbles (or pebbles). |
A simple square patchwork side border and diagonal quilting through the squares. |
Here it is on top of his dresser. |
The colors work nicely with this old dresser. |
I used an Asian fabric on the back too. |

What a unique "manly" project! I've been on the search for just the right fabric for Hubby's den curtains. He requested something "manly", not sure exactly what he considers manly.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet of your husband to request this and how sweet of you to create it for him. Beautiful dresser topper.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Daryl! I love all things Asian and that koi print is lovely. It makes a great topper - neither too feminine nor masculine.
ReplyDeleteIf he suddenly feels the desire to do a lot more fishing than usual, you will know it is your fault! LoL. I imagine he enjoys seeing your beautiful stitching and this great runner every single day. Beautiful quilting, Daryl, and great backing fabric design too.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to sew for others - especially when they are family.
ReplyDeleteI love the japanese prints so I could easily steal it to use on my table/dresser.
That is neat that your husband asked you to make this Daryl. You did a beautiful job fulfilling his request! The bubble/pebble quilting is just perfect for the fabric.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all the fabric is gorgeous, I love koi fish. Your quilting is so pretty you did a great job all the way around with the border and design. I'm sure your husband loves it. thanks for sharing.

It turned out beautifully, Daryl. It does play off of the dresser so well. Great fabric and the quilting is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful fabrics and quilting...nice job!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is gorgeous! And your pebbles are the perfect motif for this fabric. The back would be nice on top too, when the owner's mood requires something less vivid.
ReplyDeletePinned, four times :-)
