Hand Knit Baktus Scarf with Edging

I love knitting this scarf. It looks great and is easy to knit. Years ago I bought a skein of variegated purple wool yarn when I went to the annual Taos Wool Festival in Taos, New Mexico. I wanted to find the right project for this yarn, since it was just one skein and fingering weight. I finally decided this scarf was the right project to knit and since I had knit this scarf years ago and liked it, I knew it would turn out right.

The colors are so much prettier in person as purple doesn't photograph true (at least not in my camera). The colors are really a deep eggplant that variegates to a red plum and has touches of lavender too. The photo looks more blue, but it is not at all.

I love the look of the edging too. This is all garter stitch knit, but having the edging adds a nicer look to the scarf.

Not having a model to photograph this scarf makes it kind of hard to see how it looks worn. I love how soft and warm it feels when I do wear it.

Close to You Handknit Scarf (or Shawl) in 100% Pink Alpaca Yarn

I knit this scarf (shawl) in a pink Fingering weight 100% alpaca yarn. It is so soft to the touch. This is the second Close to You Scarf I have knit (the first one was in a variegated blue). Measures about 65" x 15".

Flashdance Knit Scarf

This is called Flashdance Shawl, but mine turned out to be a scarf. The directions were a bit odd and so I just started it and did my own thing with the knitting. The pattern calls for switching yarn colors every so often, but I wanted to use this variegated yarn I had that knits in long lengths of each color. I like the lacy look this scarf has with garter stitching knit in too. So while mine doesn't look quite the same as the pattern, it was close enough and I like the results.

Without a model to wear it, it is hard to show it, so I took several photos showing it at different angles.

Beckenham Knit Scarf

Mr. P wanted me to knit him a scarf out of a nice quality wool in OD (Olive Drab) Green color. So first to find a good pattern to knit and then to seek out and find an OD green color. 

I found the Beckenham Scarf and showed it to him and he liked it, so bought the pattern. I also did a search for the yarn and found it at Wool & Co. a yarn store in St. Charles, IL They will wind your balls of yarn too if you request it (free of charge) and they ship free with any purchase too. Spend $100 or more and you get 10% off and if you forgo the tissue wrapping, they donate 25 cents to charity. (I am not an affiliate, I just liked their store).

The yarn I purchased was from Plymouth Select, Worsted Merino Superwash, color 81, which they call Green Heather. I love knitting with good quality yarn and this is so soft. I purchased 3 skeins of yarn and only used 2 skeins, so I will make a hat for him too.

Mr. P has worn this scarf every day since I finished it. He says it feels so soft and warm too. Merino is the only yarn I can wear against my skin as it doesn't itch at all. Even yarn with only 10% wool (unknown wool origin) and 90% acrylic will make me itch a little.

Chevron Knit Scarf in Variegated Colors

I knit this Chevron scarf using a variegated fingering weight yarn. I like the Chevron pattern as it looks great and is easy to knit too.

Chevron Knit Scarf

I knit this scarf in a Chevron stitch using a variegated wool blend yarn in browns with a touch of blue. I love knitting the Chevron pattern because it's easy, but it looks great! These photos were taken indoors a few months ago because it was too cold to go outside and dragging Fanny around is not so easy to do. So the photos are not the best indoors.

Fanny is modeling the scarf. She is also wearing a knit beret I made over 35 years ago! The beret is a mohair/silk blend and so soft.

Multi-Colored Knit Scarf

I knit this scarf using a multi-colored yarn. I think it is an acrylic yarn. I love the colors of this yarn! I have been wearing this scarf every morning that I walk in the cold weather. I knit this and took photos before I had my model, Fanny.

Wiggle Lace Knit Triangle Scarf

I knit this last year in November or December. I had one skein of yarn and this scarf took one skein of yarn to make. I am trying to use up those miscellaneous skeins of yarn by knitting them into something useful. This skein is a variegated yarn going from light gray to pink. The pattern is called Wiggle Lace Scarf, by Kris Basta. It's a free pattern on Ravelry.

I really need to find a better way to photograph a scarf. I might need to make or buy a bust of some kind that has a head with a torso on top so that I could photograph not only scarves, but hats and necklaces too. I wonder if I can find a mannequin from a store that is going out of business or changing their mannequins? Hmm....Meanwhile here is the scarf the best I could photograph it:

Blue Dew Drop Knit Cowl

My friend Tara gave me some yarn recently and I was drawn to the beautiful blue color of this yarn. I decided to knit a cowl and thought the Dew Drop Cowl would work for this yarn. It's an easy pattern to knit. I had an earlier version of this pattern and it was a long knit. There is an updated version in a shorter length now too.

Mistake Rib Knit Scarf

I knit this scarf with a stitch called the mistake rib. I like how this stitch does lay flat and doesn't curl like the other knit 2-purl 2 rib scarf I made in black yarn recently that stilled curled even after blocking it. This is an easy stitch to knit. It's a multiple of 4+3. You just k2, p2 to the last 3 stitches and then knit 2, purl 1. Just repeat on every row and that's it. The scarf was knit extra wide and and the yarn is a sport weight so it took a long time to make because after hours of knitting, I only had knit about an inch or so. Not sure how many hours the entire scarf took, but I would knit 3-4 hours on it every night for a few weeks, while watching movies on dvd or Netflix.

Rib Knit Scarf
