Twister Quilt

I love making Twister quilts! I have made several in the past. I usually use the 5" size Twister Tool to cut the Twister Pinwheels, but this time I used the 6.5" size and I like the larger pinwheel effect. I may try doing the next Twister with even larger blocks.

This quilt measures 36" x 36". I backed it in a bright yellow flannel. I grabbed all the pieces of fabric scraps that I had that were large enough to put into this quilt. I put it in the gift shop to sell it, so we'll see what happens. If it doesn't sell then it will be donated to Project Linus. That is always a great option for me to donate something that doesn't sell and I would say more than half of what I take there doesn't sell for whatever reason, I really don't know? I price them about or even cheaper than someone could make their own quilt so that is sells. It is easier to try sell at the giftshop than to sell online, which for me is much harder to do. I want to spend my time sewing and creating, rather than promoting myself all over the internet! 😜The time doing that takes away the joy and the time that I have to create and sew. Okay enough of that and on with the Twister Quilt!

I used a Serpentine stitch to quilt in a diagonal grid.

Let's do the Twist!😁

*Update: This quilt sold at the gift shop! Yay! I thought it was good enough to sell, but you never know. I priced it cheap enough, but they don't always sell.

Simply Charming Twister Tote

Hello Bag Lovers & Twister Quilt aficionados. Now that Christmas is over I can share a custom bag order that I made using the Lil' Twister Tool from Around the Bobbin and the Simply Charming Twister Tote pattern that is also from Around the Bobbin too.

A good repeat customer who loves my work (it's so nice to hear that from people who buy bags from me, especially when they buy more than once) asked me to make this tote for her daughter for Christmas and told me to choose any color. I love to choose fabric colors and I chose to use a variety of batik fabrics to make this bag.

I added the hardware D-rings and rivets and purse feet too that were not part of the pattern. I also quilted the entire bag instead of just the Twister part. I think it looks better that way. I love how it turned out!

Front of the bag.

The back of the bag has a few different batik colors of the Twister Pinwheels.

Variegated colored thread for the quilting.

Has to have a Handmade label. Limited Edition is right! It is limited to just this one bag as I won't repeat it in the same fabrics ever again. One of a kind bag for sure!

Side view to show the depth of the bag.

The bottom of the bag with 6 purse feet.

Interior of tote
The tote closes with a magnetic snap closure and the tote can open really wide.

Interior of tote showing zipper pocket
I added a zipper pocket inside too.

Interior of tote showing the slip pockets
I added a large slip pocket that I divided in half with a narrow pen pocket at each end.

I love Twister blocks! They make for great bags and quilts. Linda, I hope your daughter loved this tote!

Diaper Bag, Twister Baby Quilt & Stuffed Bears in Velour

Over a year ago I made a diaper bag, a quilt and a couple of bears as a gift to my niece who was having a baby (he is one year old already!).

I chose to make the Show Off Bag (Whistlepig Creek pattern). I thought it could be used as a diaper bag or later as a nice tote bag for carrying things that are needed for 2 young children (Great nephew has an older sister). My niece likes blue, so that's what she got.

I made the Twister quilt in bold colors for a boy. I made 2 velour Warren bears. I told my niece to let her young daughter to choose the bear she wanted and the other bear is for her baby brother. I don't know which bear she chose.

The Show Off Bag (named so you could show off a large print).

Sides have a pocket with elastic top, which I thought would hold a baby bottle and later a water bottle or sippy bottle.

I added a couple of hidden slip pockets; one on the front and one on the back of the bag for quick access to keys and phone.

Bag zips closed.

To show how large this bag is, I rolled up the quilt (backed in blue flannel) and put the blue bear on the right and the aqua bear on top. Then zipped it closed. I put this in a box to mail it to her.

I added divided slip pockets on each side along the width of the bag.

I added purse feet on the bottom.

The bag measures 18" wide x 12" high x 6" deep.

Now on to the Twister Quilt~

I used all scraps for the front top of the quilt and blue flannel for the back of the quilt.

Straight lines to quilt it in a variegated thread.

Here are the 2 velour Warren bears (pattern from Shiny Happy World).

I really stuffed them a lot to give them more of a squishy tummy. They are so soft and cuddly.

Aqua bear has a red heart, oval muzzle and a triangle nose.

Blue bear has a long muzzle, oval nose and a heart on the left side.
