Cotton Knit Bowl

I saw this pattern somewhere and decided to knit a bowl using cotton yarn. It knit up nicely, but is rather soft and floppy on the edges. I suppose if I had something inside the bowl it would hold things just fine. Knit up like a boxy hat.
Using a variegated cotton yarn in pink, brown and white (Neapolitan), I knit this bowl. Most of the brown wanted to stay on this side of the bowl.

While the pink yarn ended up on this side of the bowl.

Looking down into the bowl. You can see the sides of the bowl are soft and not very rigid.

The bottom of the bowl started off nicely looking like stripes and then decided to knit with most of the brown on one side and the pink on the other.

  1. Cute bowl, Daryl. It reminds me of Neapolitan ice cream.

  2. cute bowl, if you want to make it stiff there is a way to do it. you'd have to look it up to get the measurements right but I remember folks making a solution with starch that made cotton bowls stiff. its worth a try if you want it firmer.
