Companion Carpet Bag in Paris Fabric

I made this Companion Carpet Bag in a home dec Paris print fabric. The pattern is from Sewing with Mrs. H. This is the small sized bag, which is a really nice size and quite roomy inside. The pattern also includes a large size bag as well.

I have made several of these Carpet bags over the years and still love this pattern. When I cut this Paris fabric, I fussy cut the pocket so it matched the rest of the print exactly. When it came time to add some handles, I realized that whatever kind of handles I were to add would cover up the face of the woman on both the front and the back of the bag, since the back is exactly the same, except no pocket on the back. So I looked around in my box of assorted made handles and found these wooden handles, which would work well. I just had to add strap tabs and sew them at the top in the seam so it wouldn't cover up any of the fabric print.

The bottom of the bag I added purse feet and a stabilizer to keep the bottom shape.

The back is the same as the front, except no pocket here.

This bag opens nice and wide. I added a zippered pocket and a slip pocket inside.

Now you can see the bag with the handles up.
This is in my Etsy Shop for sale.

Companion Carpet Bag in Blue Batik

I made this Companion Carpet Bag (Mrs. H pattern) in a blue batik fabric with Uncorked gray accent fabric. I really love this style bag. It opens nice and wide with the internal frame and has an outside pocket and pockets inside as well and can hold a lot of stuff too. It's such a great classic bag design.

This dark blue batik has a subtle print and the blue would go so nicely with any outfit.

Nice depth to the bag.

Say ah! Opens so nice and wide and just look at all the room inside! Plus a divided slip pocket and a zippered pocket too. A nice light lining makes it so much easier to see what's in your bag.

The slip pocket I dived in half with a pen pocket.

A zippered pocket is a great place to put things that you really want to keep safe and separated from other items in your bag. so you can find it easily.

The back side of the bag.

I added stabilizer and purse feet on the bottom of the bag.

The bag is accented with the faux cork fabric as well as brass colored rings and rivets.

Companion Carpet Bag in Scottish Wool

I made this Companion Carpet Bag (pattern by Mrs. H) last year and it sold at a craft show I did in November. It is made of Scottish Wool in a red, white and blue plaid.

I love this bag and have made several of them. The bag opens up so nice and wide and has an internal metal frame. I do my handles differently from the pattern.

Companion Carpet Bag in Scottish Wool. There is a slip pocket on the front and back of the bag, which is perfect for keys in one pocket and your phone in another.

She has such a wide side.

The back of the bag also has a slip pocket.

Open wide! See how wide this bag opens! You can really see all you have in here, even with this bright red floral lining, lol! I added a zippered pocket and a divided slip pocket.

I dived the slip pocket with a pen pocket in the center.
I will be making a few more Companion Carpet Bags because I have about 6 more frames left.

Batik Scrappy Companion Carpet Bag

I made another Companion Carpet Bag (Sewing Patterns by Mrs. H). This is the smaller sized bag. I bought a few of these frames when this pattern came out and I made 3 others. I will be making more eventually too, as I have 6 more frames left! I guess I went a bit crazy buying frames at the time, lol!

The first one I made is here. The second one I made for my daughter who never used the bag at all! I may need to give that one away.

This is a fun bag pattern to make and you can make changes as you desire. On this one I made one front pocket. On the 3rd one I made with the decorative stitches, I made a pocket in the front and the back of the bag. You can see the bag here and then click on the link to take you to the tutorial I wrote on how to make the decorative stitched pockets.

I quilted the bag with a variegated thread.

Back of the bag.

This is the other side of the bag to show the other fabrics I used.

Zipper pocket inside the bag.

I love how this bag opens so nice and wide!

There is also a divided slip pocket opposite of the zippered pocket. I like to divide a pen pocket down the center of the pocket.
This bag is for sale. If you are interested email me. $65 + shipping. I invoice through PayPal. This bag has SOLD!
