I used my scraps of brown fabrics to create a quilt-as-you-go (qayg) flap to the messenger bag. |
I used one D-ring and sewed the other end of the adjustable strap in to the side gusset on the other side, instead of using another ring. |
A fun cat print for the lining. A large slip-in pocket is under the flap in the front. |
A recessed zipper under the flap. I added a zipper tab on both ends of the zipper so that I have something to grab onto when zipping. |
Inside the bag is also a pocket that is padded with batting for holding a tablet. I don't have a tablet though. |
Here is the tablet pocket opened. I added a snap closure rather than a Velcro closure. |
Here is the snap on the tablet pocket. |
The back of the bag has a large slip-in pocket. |
Very nice. I love the quilted look on the flap and all of your extras.
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed Daryl. I love the flap and all the modifications you made and may copy some of them. The lining fabric is so cute too. After seeing your bag I want to make mine.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors and how you did the flap, I am surprised the designer wanted to put velcro inside of the tablet pocket, your changes are much better, and I like saving on hardware too :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job! Love the kittie fabric!
ReplyDeleteI really like your fabric choices and you mods too. That's the best thing about making purses....you can tailor them to your preferences.
ReplyDeleteOnce again dear you have created a perfect bag with fun fabrics and your great style. This is Santa Fe Bliss! I don't have a tablet either...unless you count my spiral bound steno book. Fabulous job my friend...
ReplyDeleteFabulous! The flap is so artsy--love it. You are the Queen of Bags for sore and that one is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteI think my very favorite style of bag is the messenger bag, its so comfortable to carry across your body and then it lays nice and flat. I really love the contrast of the strips used on the flap with the solid color bag. the accents of rick rack and embroidery make it so unique and its a lovely detail. The closures, zipper and pockets make the bag very functional. you did an excellent job as usual and the results are perfection.
