Blue String Quilt Table Runner

Are you Feeling Blue? Well how about you grab some of your blue colored fabric scraps and make this string table runner to lift your spirits? It's Feeling Blue week over on the Therm-O-Web blog and if you pop over there you can get my full tutorial on how to make a Blue String Quilt Table Runner of your very own.

Made from a variety of blue fabric scraps with a pop of pink.

The table runner finishes at 16 1/4" wide x 39 3/4" long, but you can easily adjust the finished size blocks that you make or the number of blocks you make to change the size of the runner to fit your table.

Adding these fusible flower appliqué shapes are optional, but I did include the templates in the instructions.

These are the Therm-O-Web products that I used in making the Blue String Quilt Table Runner:

16 Sew Powerful Purses Finished for 2022

16 finished purses made for the Sew Powerful Purse Project. I wasn't going to sew any of these purses after I sent in my last box in December 2021 until January of this new year, but I did end up sewing 7 of these during the last week in December, but I am counting these toward the number I make for 2022.

I again found new life for quilt blocks I made in the past that never became part of a quilt. I think they look better as purse flaps anyhow. Here they are:

That's a pretty good start, considering the first week of January isn't even over yet.

Car Trash Bin in Earth Tones

I made another Car Trash Bin (from More Me Know) to give to a friend. I didn't have waterproof canvas for the lining in any color that would go with the exterior fabric, so I painted the interior fabric using HeatnBond's Liquid Vinyl from Therm-O-Web. It now is easy to wipe off any dirt or drips with a damp cloth. I haven't given this to my friend yet, but she has seen the photos.

The bag has the same flagstone color in this fabric print.

I over cut the fabric slightly larger than needed and then I fused interfacing to the back of the fabric first and then painted on the Liquid Vinyl, let it dry and painted on one more coat of Liquid Vinyl. Then after I pressed it according to the instructions, I cut it to the size I needed.

I hope to drop this off to my friend later this month.

Drunkard's Path Freezer (Table) Topper

We got a chest freezer last year and I wanted to create a topper for it since it was so white and bright and I thought adding a topper to it would make it look more homey. So I measured the top of the freezer and decided to use the smallest size Drunkard's Path die cuts from Crafter's Edge. I just went through my scraps of brown and yellows to use. My original idea was to make a sort of Sunflower shape using these colors, but I didn't like how it was looking, so I played with layouts until I was happy and this is the end result. I do like this layout a lot.

I also decided to sew them a bit differently by appliquéing the curve, by placing it on top, rather than sewing a curve. I like the appliqué look.

I am sure you might be wondering how do I open a chest freezer without this topper constantly falling off? Simple, I glued a magnet on all four corners of the topper and it stays put. Yes that was pretty genius if I do say so myself, LOL!!!

I blanket stitched around the curves and quilted curvy lines too.

It sits atop my chest freezer.

Magnets glued to all 4 corners keep the topper in place when the freezer is opened.

I used the Drunkard's Path die cut to create this topper.

The Illusion Bag

I am finally able to reveal my version of  The Illusion Bag that I tested for Imazz Patterns a few months ago. This is the first bag pattern offered in the Bag of the Month Club (BOTMC) that runs January-March. There are 3 bag designers and you get a packaged deal of all 3 patterns by joining the BOTMC. You can join anytime through the end of March for this deal. The other 2 bag designs will not be revealed until the 1st of each month (Feb. & March). You cannot buy these patterns individually until after the BOTMC is over and I am not certain when the exact date of that will be, but you will need to purchase from each designer then as it will no longer be a package deal. By joining the club you save money and it's like getting one pattern free.

Imazz's instructions are excellent and this bag is no exception. The Illusion Bag is perfect for someone who doesn't have or prefers not to use a lot of hardware or any hardware at all. Of course you can use whatever hardware you like.

Here is my version of The Illusion Bag. I chose to use a batik fabric paired with a pair of repurposed jeans in an brownish-olive tone, which went perfect with my batik fabric.

The finished bag measures 13 inches / 32.5 cm high x 11 inches / 28.5 cm wide x 3 inches / 7.5 cm deep.

The front of the bag features a zippered pocket as well as a slip pocket. Perfect place for easy access to your phone, keys, your mask, or whatever you need to grab quickly.

A recessed zipper to keep the contents of you bag secured.

Inside the bag you have choices of pockets to add or not add. I added both a divided slip pocket as well as a zipper pocket. But you can add 2 zipper pockets or 2 slip pockets or one pocket or no pockets as the choice is yours if you make this make bag. There are instructions for both pockets in the instructions.

I like to divide my pocket to include a pen pocket.

This is the back side of the bag. No pockets here, but you could add one if you wanted to. You can see the seam down the center, which is from the jeans I used to create this bag. It gives it a bit of character, don't you think?

I chose to use webbing for my strap, along with strap ends and some rivets, both are in antique brass a handmade label too.

I just love both of those front pockets.

Don't want to make a bag, but like this one? I have it listed for sale in my PayHip Shop with FREE SHIPPING to USA only. This bag has SOLD.
