Sew Powerful Purses #10 & #11 (for 2023)

These cute foxes that I appliquéd onto the purse flaps are a Crafter's Edge die cut. I had a couple of fabrics with trees on them and at first I thought of making large quilt blocks with the foxes, but I thought the fox would be better featured on a purse flap and I am so glad I made these on the purses instead. I actually have a few more purses that I am working on now with these foxes too, only some of the fox fabric is different.

There was only enough of the tree fabric to use for the flap and the front and back of the purses, so I used a gray fabric for the gusset and tops of the lining pockets.

Fox Applique Wall Quilt

Today is my grandson's birthday and since he loves foxes, I thought I would share my fox quilted wall hanging today. I didn't give this to him because he would probably think it was too babyish (he is 14 today after all), so I hung it in my sewing room for now. (*Update: I sold this wall hanging)

I used the Crafter's Edge cute fox die cut, the square die cut and the half square triangle die cut to create this cute fox wall quilt.

I made the fox using felt. I placed the fox onto a batik square background set on point. I added brown batik half square triangles in the 4 corners and strips of brown batik border around it. Then used a dark brown binding. I also added some natural rickrack too. I hand blanket stitched the fox and hand quilted it, using a thick yarn-like thread.

This cute fox is hanging on the wall in my sewing room and makes me smile to look at him.

These are the Crafter's Edge dies I used to create this wall quilt, along with the Crossover II Die Cut Machine.

Fox Appliqued Tee-Shirt

It had snowed a couple of days before Thanksgiving, so I decided to grab my camera and photograph a few things I had made while there was still snow on the ground as it usually melts pretty quickly here once the sun comes out. This is a gift I made for my grandson who loves foxes. I figure it's safe to post it now as he is too young to get online and see my blog, lol.
I made this fox and appliqued it onto a tee-shirt for my grandson. The shirt is way too large for him, but he likes the larger shirts to sleep in. He has been into foxes lately, so I thought he would like this.
I put batting behind the applique and machine stitched it in place. Then I carefully cut the excess batting away using my applique scissors. The fox has a bit more of a cush to it with the batting. I added the whiskers, claws, etc. with some hand embroidery.
