Alphabet Quilt Made by Gloria

Back in the year 2000, I designed and made an Alphabet Quilt. I took it to show and tell at my local quilt guild and it hung in our local quilt show that year too. My friend Gloria encouraged me to create a pattern to sell and told me she would be my first customer to purchase the pattern. So I went ahead and created the pattern. Since it was a paper pattern, I had to print and package the pattern and try to sell it to quilt shops. I sold a few patterns, probably just broke even, since those patterns had to be sold at wholesale prices to the shops. Then a few years years ago Craftsy came along and I decided to turn my pattern into a pdf to sell. It was a lot easier not having to make a full time job trying to sell my pattern to quilt shops, which is not easy to do. I sell a few patterns per year on Craftsy and that's fine. I never thought I would make a fortune selling patterns LOL!!!

Okay, let's get back to my friend Gloria who did indeed purchase my very first pattern. She made the quilt and wanted to add something in the border. Since Gloria is a retired school teacher who taught deaf children, she wanted to add some hand signs for the deaf in the border. She was going to applique them and thought it might be too busy and I suggested to her to quilt the hand signs. If you look closely you will see the quilted hand signs between the little children motifs that she had appliqued in the border. I love the blue and yellow that she used and the other little touches that she added to her quilt. It's fun and rewarding to see something that I designed come to life by someone else making it. I know the bag designers that I sometimes test for must feel great every time the testers complete their bags and show them.

Alphabet Quilt

I designed and created an Alphabet Quilt over 14 years ago (in 2000) and then with the encouragement of a friend created a pattern for it. I sold it as a paper pattern first and then along came Craftsy and I turned it into a pdf and started to sell the pattern on Craftsy a few years ago. In all the years that I have sold this pattern, I have never been contacted about this pattern with a question until a few months ago. Joanne Noyes emailed to ask me something and one thing lead to another and I asked her if she would send me a photo of the quilt when she finished the quilt. Joanne did a beautiful job! Joanne had the quilt quilted by a long arm quilter, Shirley York of Blue Moose Quilting in Rumford Maine, who also did a wonderful job. Joanne gave me permission to share her quilt on my blog. It is so thrilling for me to see the finished results from a pattern that I designed that someone else has made. (Now I know how some of those bag designers must feel when bag testers like myself test their bag patterns). Here is Joanne's Alphabet Quilt~
The quilt top. Joanne made some changes like adding the applique pig, block, and gingerbread boy, (instead of the flower, heart and star that are on the pattern) which are darling changes.
The finished quilt. See the quilting on the black border and the great quilting on the quilt. Nicely done Joanne and Shirley. Thanks for sharing your quilt with me Joanne (and now all of my followers and visitors too).

My Day for the Wicked Blog Hop

My friend Bobbie designed these appliqué placemats, which she calls Spooky Shoes.  She has the pattern for sale on Craftsy if you would like to purchase and make your own Spooky Shoes. Bobbie really added some great embellishments to her Spooky Shoes, so be sure to take a peek at hers .
The only Halloween fabric I had was this border print with the pumpkins and cat and I had it a long time, so I chose my other fabrics to go with the border print.
I added some glitter paint to the shoes and dresses of all the placemats.
I used some Christmas fabric for the backings and bindings of all of these placemats so that they can be reversible too.

Close-up of a shoe...oops pardon the lint that always seems to shows up on my black fabric no matter what I do. I think that stray threads and lint wait just until I am about to snap a picture and then they jump right onto my quilts, lol!!!
Can you see the glitter I placed randomly on her dress?
I made this quilt using my Alphabet Quilt Pattern. I sell the Alphabet Quilt pattern on Craftsy.
Thanks to Madame Samm & Wendy for organizing this blog hop.

Name Quilt

I made this name quilt for my grandson. It's from the Alphabet Quilt that I designed. You can make the whole alphabet or spell anything you want and turn it into a quilt.
