Framed Squares Batik Quilt Top

I made these quilt blocks years ago and decided to sew them into a quilt top. Will donate this to Wrap the World With Quilts.

Panel Quilt Top with Scrappy Pieced Border

I finished another panel quilt top. I added the pink inner border and the purple/turquoise print outer border and sewed scrappy blocks in black between the borders.

Donating this to Wrap the World with Quilts.

Top measures 45 1/2" wide x 59 1/2" high.

(Disney) Tangled Panel Quilt Top

I was given this quilt panel and I decided to make a border of scrappy free style log cabin blocks using my black fabric scraps. I cut several 1-inch squares first in all the colors that are in this panel: pink, purple, yellow & green and then added the black fabrics around the colored square. Since I used fabrics that had black backgrounds with some colors too, those squares don't pop out as well as I would have liked, but I did want to use up a lot of scraps. I made more blocks than I really needed for this, so those will either border another quilt, or be made into a scrappy quilt alone.

I knew this was a Disney Princess, but I wasn't sure which one as I just don't keep up on all of this Disney stuff anymore. I found out she was from the movie, Tangled, which is an adaptation of the Rapunzel fairy tale.

I will be donating this to Wrap the World With Quilts when I have more quilts and tops to send in.

The pink and purple borders are part of the panel, which made it easier to not have to add any inner borders first.

Seed Packets Quilt Top

I made the blocks for this years ago and finally added a couple simple borders. I donated this top to Wrap the World With Quilts recently. A volunteer will quilt it.

I forgot to measure this top, but it is about 36" x 49".

Scrappy Purple Quilt Top with Sunflower Appliqué

I made a scrappy quilt top using up my purple scraps and then added a sunflower appliqué in the corner. I donated this to Wrap the World With Quilts. They have volunteers who will quilt it and then it will be donated to someone.

The quilt top measures 49" x 49". It feels good to use up so many scraps to create a quilt. It takes more time to sew scrappy like this, but also it's more rewarding to use scraps.

Sunflower on upper left
Sunflower in upper left in this photo. I wasn't sure if adding more sunflowers would be too much with all the scrappiness of this quilt already, so decided on just one.

sunflower closeup
I used a fusible web and cut out the center of the fusible web so the sunflower wasn't too stiff once I fused it, but you can see the edges of the petals are darker as the fusible web shows through. Never had that happen before. Hopefully it will be quilted nicely and won't be as noticeable. The fusible web also wasn't adhering as well as it should. It could be the batik fabric it didn't adhere to well?

scrappy purple closeup
Lots of different shades of purples in these scraps.

Sunflower in lower left
The quilt can be placed with the sunflower in the lower left corner like this or the upper left as in the first photo, or turn it again so the sunflower is in the lower or upper right corner.

Sheep with Balloons Fabric Panel with Scrappy Pieced Border (quilt top)

I am trying to use up some panels I have by adding borders to them and donating to Wrap the World With Quilts, so I added scrappy pieced blocks to create this scrappy border for the Sheep & Balloons panel. I sent a box last week to WTWWQ and included this top and 5 other tops, along with 5 quilts that I had made a while ago. I love that I can send them completed quilts or tops and they will get them quilted. I can make a top faster and easier than wrestling to quilt it myself! Plus, I can send more tops in a box too. It only costs $20 to mail a large box to WTWWQ using Give Back Box (info on WTWWQ website). That is also the way I send purses to Sew Powerful through Give Back Box, which makes it affordable to ship through UPS.

This quilt top measures 50.5" wide x 59.5" high.

Such cute and funny sheep on balloons. It is actually a growth chart panel.

I reduced my orange & yellow scraps too 😁, so win-win.

Bee & Clover Panel with Pieced Border & Sunflowers

I am trying to use up some panels that I either bought or were donated awhile ago. This panel with bees and clover was a long narrow panel. I knew it needed side borders to make it wider, but making it too wide might look odd or take away from the panel? It's always a challenge to know what to do with panels. I wish they were more equal in width and length before adding borders.

I first added the black inner border to define the panel. I knew I wanted to make a couple of appliqué sunflowers to add some interest and color and add some kind of border too. I came up with this border on the sides that looks a bit like zipper teeth 😄. I didn't have enough of the 3 border fabrics to make a top/bottom border, so decided to use the bee print on top/bottom. I am not wild about that, but maybe when someone quilts this, it will look better? I am donating this quilt top to Wrap the World with Quilts, so I am sure it will be used and I hope loved too. 🤗

This quilt top measures 34" wide x 59" high.

I used machine blanket stitch on the stem, leaves and petals and that stitch that looks like rickrack for stitching around the center of the sunflower.

The Incredibles Quilt Top

I think I got this Incredibles fabric from a donation somewhere. I decided I should make a quilt top to donate to Wrap the World with Quilts (WTWWQ) and I made this BQ-3 quilt from Maple Island Quilts. I added each of their super hero names in appliqué on the top and then added an orange print border. I will send this top to WTWWQ once I make several more quilt tops to fill up a box. WTWWQ accepts completed quilts or just the tops as they have volunteers who will finish the quilts by quilting them. I LOVE this! As I cannot quilt very large quilts anymore due to shoulder issues, so now I can make any size top an let them finish and donate the quilt.

The quilt top measures 47 1/2" x 66".

I laid out the blocks on the floor first. I needed 2 more blocks, so I used white in those 2 as I didn't have any more Incredibles fabric. I thought it needed something else too, so decided on making appliqué names of each of the family and added an orange print border too as it needed to be larger and pop a bit more.

The finished top has the orange border and the names of the super heroes done in appliqué.

closeup of the appliqué name, "Elastigirl"
I wanted to fill up as much of the white background as I could with Elastigirl's name, so I got creative in how I laid out the name.
closeup of the appliqué name, "Dash"
Dash's name was the shortest and easiest to place.

Closeup of the appliqué name, "Violet"
Had to use a violet colored fabric for Violet's name.😄

Closeup of the appliqué name, "Jack-Jack"
Jack Jack's name shows up best on the black fabric, so most of his name fit over the black.

Closeup of the appliqué name, "Mr. Incredible"
Mr. Incredible I did similar to Elastigirl.

I hope a child who likes super heroes get this quilt when it's quilted and donated.

Dancing Pigs Quilt (Donation Quilt)

Here is another quilt donation I made and sent to Wrap the World with Quilts. I made the center part of this quilt almost a year ago. Later I made the free form pieced blocks in red and green and sewed those around the center. It sat for months as I didn't know what else to do and it needed more to make it larger.  I finally decided to make some string blocks and add them and call it done! I forgot to measure the quilt, but it measures about 42"-ish square? I need to remember to measure and write these things down 🙄.

After all these years, I finally tried sewing the binding completely by machine. It is soooo much faster! What took me so long?

I quilted the center area with double wavy lines.

I quilted the string blocks in a serpentine stitch.
I hope a little girl who loves to dance will receive this quilt.

Scrappy Multi-Colored Quilt

This scrappy quilt was another quilt I donated to Wrap the World With Quilts. I forgot to measure the size of this one, but it is a good size lap quilt.

Used mostly multi-colored scraps to make this quilt.

I did make a small dent in the multi-color fabric scraps.
