Scrappy Purple Quilt Top with Sunflower Appliqué

I made a scrappy quilt top using up my purple scraps and then added a sunflower appliqué in the corner. I donated this to Wrap the World With Quilts. They have volunteers who will quilt it and then it will be donated to someone.

The quilt top measures 49" x 49". It feels good to use up so many scraps to create a quilt. It takes more time to sew scrappy like this, but also it's more rewarding to use scraps.

Sunflower on upper left
Sunflower in upper left in this photo. I wasn't sure if adding more sunflowers would be too much with all the scrappiness of this quilt already, so decided on just one.

sunflower closeup
I used a fusible web and cut out the center of the fusible web so the sunflower wasn't too stiff once I fused it, but you can see the edges of the petals are darker as the fusible web shows through. Never had that happen before. Hopefully it will be quilted nicely and won't be as noticeable. The fusible web also wasn't adhering as well as it should. It could be the batik fabric it didn't adhere to well?

Lots of different shades of purples in these scraps.

Sunflower in lower left
The quilt can be placed with the sunflower in the lower left corner like this or the upper left as in the first photo, or turn it again so the sunflower is in the lower or upper right corner.

Sheep with Balloons Fabric Panel with Scrappy Pieced Border (quilt top)

I am trying to use up some panels I have by adding borders to them and donating to Wrap the World With Quilts, so I added scrappy pieced blocks to create this scrappy border for the Sheep & Balloons panel. I sent a box last week to WTWWQ and included this top and 5 other tops, along with 5 quilts that I had made a while ago. I love that I can send them completed quilts or tops and they will get them quilted. I can make a top faster and easier than wrestling to quilt it myself! Plus, I can send more tops in a box too. It only costs $20 to mail a large box to WTWWQ using Give Back Box (info on WTWWQ website). That is also the way I send purses to Sew Powerful through Give Back Box, which makes it affordable to ship through UPS.

This quilt top measures 50.5" wide x 59.5" high.

scrappy border in yellow & orange
Such cute and funny sheep on balloons. It is actually a growth chart panel.

I reduced my orange & yellow scraps too 😁, so win-win.
