Teloujay Cross Body Bag

This Cross Body Bag is called Teloujay, which designer Jo of Country Cow Designs says is a made up word. Jo also has made a video showing you how to make this bag as well as the pdf. I did watch her video and it is well done. The Teloujay Bag can be made in short or tall versions, I made the short version here. The tall version has a taller top band.

There are a few things I learned how to do making this bag. One was to make a double sided strap which I hadn't done before and she has credit card slots inside the zippered pocket, which is interesting to place them in the pocket, so that was also new to me.

I did add another slip pocket just like the front on the back of the bag, rather than leave the back plain. I saw a few people on her Facebook Group add a zippered pocket on the back of the bag, which is also a good idea.

This bag has SOLD.

I like this slip pocket on the front of the bag. It's roomy and a perfect place for keys or a phone. I made the same pocket on the back of the bag and it looks the same, so I didn't bother to photograph the back.

The light aqua fabric is Uncorked, a cotton fabric that looks like cork.

The bag closes with a magnetic snap. The zippered pocket is fun because it is a pocket but holds a surprise inside.

Inside the zippered pocket holds 6 credit card slots. The cards fit vertically making it easier to place them in and out. Plus they are nice and secure and hidden in the pocket.

It is hard to see in these photos, but the adjustable strap is 2-sided. The outside is the main fabric and the inner strap is the faux cork print.

This bag sold in my Etsy Shop very quickly after I listed it. Yay!

A Thankful Twist Table Runner

I tested this table runner, A Thankful Twist, for Around the Bobbin. Lisa made her sample with a background color and a second color for the twister pinwheels. But I wanted to use a variety of fall colors for the pinwheels, so I pulled out some fall scraps to make the pinwheels and a background fabric. I used a fabric for the vertical side strips that had all the fall colors.

The pattern has the wording Give Thanks that I appliqued, but also included a variety of leaf appliques that were supposed to be appliqued. However, my leaves didn't really show up when I placed them down. The leaf colors were the same as the twister pinwheels (although different prints). So I decided to leave the leaves off my runner. I love how this runner looks and how the twister pinwheels appear to be dancing around the runner. It also looks great with the leaves if you were to choose one twister color and the background. Lisa liked my version as a variation to choose from so she included my quilt photo in the pattern and even added the instructions on how to make it scrappy. I am honored!

Either way, it is a great runner and fun to make. I just love making twister quilts! Those twister pinwheels are so happy looking to me. As I was appliqueing the wording of Give Thanks, I thought how you could make this runner in different colors and add other wording or applique motifs, such as Happy Birthday with balloons or cake. How about Saint Patrick's Day in greens with a rainbow or pot of gold? Merry Christmas in red and green. Patriotic American holidays using red, white and blue colors. So if you buy this pattern, don't have to limit yourself to just Thanksgiving; and that way you can make so many other runners by just changing the colors and adding different wording or applique motifs in the center.

Go here to see the other tester versions and also to see the other Twister Holiday Patterns that have just been released too. If you order any of these new Twister patterns you get free shipping through June 16, 2019. So hurry if you want free shipping. The code is in this link. Only paper patterns are available now. Pdf's will come later.

Okay so here is my Thankful Twist Runner version~

I played with adding some color saturation to make this photo look more golden. The background fabric looks a little darker here because I darkened the photo..

Pineapple Quilted Table Runner

I made a Pineapple Table Runner using scraps of white fabrics and scraps of batik fabrics. The inner and outer border and binding is also batik fabric. I quilted it in a wavy variegated thread.

The blocks were made using the Creative Grids Pineapple Trim Ruler, which made this much easier to make. I posted about this when I had only made the blocks and shared the video from Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilting Co. After watching her video I had to get this ruler and I am glad that I did. I don't like to buy specific rulers unless I know I will make more than one quilt, runner, etc. using the ruler. Mainly because those rulers are all so dang expensive! Creative Grids price fix their rulers, so they don't go on sale unless they allow them to go on sale, which I have not seen more than a 50 cents difference in price on any of their rulers before. So if you are waiting for a sale, don't hold your breath! (I am not an affiliate of theirs.)

When it comes to rulers, if you want to know how to use them properly and get tips, etc. you must search online to find a good video to learn how to use various rulers and not just from this company. Going to local quilt shops, you will find lots of rulers, but unless someone in the shop demonstrates a ruler, I would have no idea how to use it and may or may not want to buy it without knowing this before purchasing the ruler. So quilt shops please listen up and offer ruler demos or you won't sell many rulers! And don't charge for a class in order to learn how to use a ruler that you are selling either. We can all go online and find free videos to see how to use the various rulers out there and then decide whether we want to buy the ruler or not. I am all in favor of supporting local shops, but if they don't make it easier for me to buy rulers from them, then I will go and seek out the help I do need in order to make an informed decision. Yes I can be very opinionated, lol!!!

The runner measures 26" x 45 1/2". It is for sale in my Etsy Shop.
