Dragon Applique

Inspired by an Eric Carle book, I cut and fused fabrics for this dragon applique. It's actually something my daughter requested. She will do the hand blanket stitching around the raw edges of the shapes and then hand quilt it. It's a gift she is making for a very special person. I guess she finally decided to start quilting now that she has a reason to, ha ha. I showed her how to do the fusible applique on a smaller quilt she is currently working on and she didn't like doing all the cutting and tracing of the pieces, but she liked doing the hand stitching. So I contributed with this one by choosing the fabric colors and cutting out and fusing the pieces onto the background fabric, and now the rest is for her to do. I should have taken a photo of the first applique quilt too, but since she's working on getting it finished now, and I will take a photo of it once it's completed.

  5. I wouldn't want to be either the person who cut out all those tiny pieces, or the person who will sew around them. But it is a fantastic dragon!
