Newborn Baby Cable Knit Hat

Newborn Baby Cable Hat pattern is FREE from Crazy Hands. It is such a cute hat and easy to knit too! I used a skein of Bernat Cashmere Natural Blends yarn that I already had, which is a #4 worsted weight yarn. The yarn is 65% acrylic, 30% nylon and 5% cashmere, which makes it feel soft! Perfect yarn for a newborn babe.

I knit this as a gift for a friend of mine who will be a first time grandmother in September. Her daughter is pregnant and having a baby boy. The yarn color I used is good for a boy or girl, so just in case her daughter has another baby later, she could save the hat for a second baby. My friend is a quilter, so I know there will be lots of quilts made for this baby. My friend is not a knitter, so knitting something useful came to my mind to make for baby. No reason to knit a blanket if baby will be cuddled in quilts! Hats are quick and easy to make and will be used in September when baby is born and weather is cooler in the Pacific Northwest.

My garden lady is modeling the hat as I had nothing small enough to model it, lol!

I also had enough yarn leftover to knit a pair of booties too.

Knit Baby Hats For Charity

I knit a few baby hats for a charity called Caps for Good. One of the women in my knitting group told us about this and several of us knit a few baby hats for the cause. We all have yarn already and this was a good way to use some of it up.
This is a really soft yarn.

I knit 2 different hats using this soft mohair-like yarn.

This hat has a wider ribbing on the brim.

This is a fun hat to knit. It is a diagonal lace pattern and the flower is part of the pattern that is knit separately.

No small mannequin head to photograph these hats, so I used a balloon. As you can see it was a red balloon!

Even More Baby Gifts

I knit this baby sweater for my daughter's friend who is having a boy in November.

And a hat to match. I also made a zipper gift bag in a baby print fabric (just like the bag with the knit duck hat below).

Orange Knit Hat

I knit this for a friend of mine to give to her grandson, who will be born in December. It's an orange (fruit). The pattern was actually a berry knit with lilac yarn, but too feminine for a boy, so I found these yarn colors and turned it into an orange!

Knit Apple Hat

This is supposed to be an "apple" hat. I didn't have red yarn so I used a lemon yellow yarn instead. So it's either a yellow apple or a lemon hat. Knit for my grandson. The second picture photographed lighter. The top photo is the true yellow color.
