Bird on a Branch Quilt

  • This pattern was from a free download online from CT Publications on their CT pubblog: http://www.ctpubblog.com/2010/03/17/bird-on-a-branch-table-runner/
  • It was taken from Piece O' Cake authors, Becky Goldsmith & Linda Jenkins' newest book: Appliqué Outside the Lines.
  • I embroidered the blanket stitch appliqués by hand and quilted it by machine.
  • This was called a table runner, but I have a round table and like it better for a wall hanging.
  • I used scraps for the background, and most of the appliqués.

Knitting Tools Notebook

I designed and made this notebook to hold my knitting supplies (things other than the actual knitting needles), like a tape measure, stitch markers, cable needles, scissors, ruler, etc. This is the front when closed:

Selvage Wallet

I made this wallet using selvages. I designed the wallet in my head and sort of designed as I sewed, ripping out a couple of times as I made mistakes. I like how it turned out. This is the second thing I made using selvages too.

Credit card pockets.

Zippered coin pocket.

Ruler Bag for Susan

I made this ruler bag for my friend, Susan, for her birthday. She loves batik fabrics about as much as I do, so not only did I make this bag out of batiks, but I wrapped it in a fat quarter batik that had lighthouses on the fabric because Susan likes lighthouses. I tucked 2 more batik fabrics into a couple of the pockets that were nautical themed as well. The front of bag has 1 patch pocket, a slit pocket and under the top flap is a pocket that holds the long 6" x 24" ruler. I braided the handle and appliquéd a flower too. The Herb and Onion; The Urban Onion quilt I made for a quilt challenge from my quilt guild. The story of this quilt I wrote on the label in the last photo.

Flower Appliqué Quilt

I belong to an appliqué group and Jeanne from our group drew this flower design for us to appliqué. We also got together one day to dye fabric for this appliqué too. I used only fabrics that we dyed from that day, except for the yellow I already had dyed previously. Close-up:
