Sew Powerful Purses #473-476 for 2025

Four more purses, 3 have Hawaiian print purse bodies.

I added a little fabric from the purse body and the flap lining in this scrappy purse flap to tie it together.

I also had a couple pieces of scraps from the purse body to add to this purse flap as well as the next 2 purses.

Sew Powerful Purses #421-422 for 2025

2 more Sew Powerful purses for a couple of Zambian girls.

sunflower appliqué on flap
I love adding flower appliqué to purse flaps and especially a sunflower, one of my favorite flowers.

purse front
I had some scraps of this exterior fabric leftover and created the scrappy flap above, using some of the fabric scraps before adding the sunflower appliqué to the flap.

X block Star quilt block on flap
This flap is an X-Block Star quilt block and I added fabric strips around it to make it large enough for the flap. It was a leftover block from a table runner I had made about a year ago.

purse front
I had a fat quarter of this print for the exterior and the other purse exterior too. I can make one purse exterior out of a fat quarter, so time to use up some fat quarters that were hanging around for too long.

Sew Powerful Purses # 419-420 for 2025

I spent most of October making purse flaps and cutting out more purse kits so I have them ready to sew into purses to donate to Sew Powerful Purse Project. I finally got a few purses sewn to share.

I was looking through my fabric and decided to cut out as many purse kits as I could to use up the floral and stripe fabrics that I had for a long time. There is metallic gold on both fabrics and these fabrics coordinate together with the same colors in each print. Then I made the flaps from the leftover scraps and added other fabric scraps that looked nice with those 2 prints. A flower appliqué added the extra touch it needed.

The front of the purse shows the floral print and the stripe print that coordinate together.

I had to piece some webbing to make this strap and added fabric over the joins.

Here is the striped fabric. The flap lining fabric was gifted to me and it was several different small panels that I cut apart and will use most for flap linings on other purses. Each were different prints.

Fun bright fabrics.

backs of purses, with one scrappy
Had to make one back scrappy as that was the last piece of the exterior fabric I had left, other than tiny pieces. I rather like that scrappy back.😁

I love these scrappy purse flaps! The one on the left has a scrappy pieced background and I added an appliqué flower over it. The one on the right is a 4-patch Posey quilt block (or Easy Stack as some call it too) that I set on point and added scraps all around it. I need to play with those Easy Stack blocks when the Sew-a-thon is over. 😉

2 purse flaps with sun fabric
I have had these little suns for a long time. They were only a scrap each, so into a purse flap they went. So much prettier in a purse!

2 front of purses
Front and back have this fabric.

3 scrappy purses
All 3 scrappy flaps, but each different.

3 purse fronts
The fronts of the 3 purses and the back side is the same fabrics as these.

Sew Powerful Purses # 339-341 (for 2025)

Another 3 purses finished for Sew Powerful Purse Project and Sew-a-thon! This is the last week for the Sew-a-thon fundraiser and making purses for the Sew-a-thon. The purse making will still continue all the time, but Sew Powerful needs to most purses now to serve as many girls as possible. Please check out my previous posts if you would like to donate in my honor as the links are on several of my previous posts with links to click on. Thank you!

Purse on the left was a leftover Twister Pinwheel block I had, so I added scraps around it to create the flap. The center purse was also a leftover quilt block I added scraps around.

Sew Powerful Purses #289-294 (for 2025)

Daughter gave me 4 red Starbucks aprons that were abandoned at her store. They can wear red aprons at Christmas time. I turned them into purses. I actually got 2 purses per apron. I am showing 5 of the aprons here. These were fun to make. I even had some long scraps of cups of coffee that I sewed into the 3 purses below.

3 purses with Starbucks logo
3 purse flaps with Starbucks logos and additional scraps. I pieced together the apron neck straps from 4 aprons to create 2 straps for the purse on the right and left, the middle purse I used webbing strap.

Apron pockets made front pockets. I added those embroidered flowers there to cover up a few holes in the pocket bottom.

Scrappy flaps for the purses without Starbucks logos.

I enrolled in the Sew Powerful Sew-A-Thon to raise funds so schoolgirls in Zambia Africa can have the feminine hygiene supplies they need to attend school all month. I make purses to hold the supplies as a special gift for a girl living in poverty. Together we can help keep girls in school! There is still time to donate through September 30, 2025. It takes $10 to fill each purse with the monthly hygiene supplies the girls need to stay in school all year long. So if you haven't donated yet, please consider at least a $10 donation to fill one purse. Click here to donate or use the QR code below. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!
