Sew Powerful Purses #124-132 for 2026

Nine more purses to donate to Sew Powerful Purse Project. More African women prints and upcycled denim jean scrappy purses.

I made 3 more of these. I had shared a few of these this month and had these 3 to also finish.

I am trying to use up my scraps of denim leftovers from making purses from denim jeans. The entire purse was made with the denim scraps: the flap, front, back and gusset too. I added rickrack, couched yarn and buttons on the flaps only.

3 more scrappy denim purses. I still have more scraps denim to make several more purses.

Sew Powerful Purses #119-123 for 2026

I upcycled denim jean scraps to make these purses. I covered the denim scraps with tulle and quilted each piece to hold it all together. On the flaps I added yarn couching, rickrack, buttons and some French knots on the rickrack. The front, back, pocket and gusset pieces were just scrappy denim covered in tulle and quilted. I made quite a few purses using just denim scraps. The purses are quite sturdy. Donating to Sew Powerful Purse Project.

Good way to use scraps of denim, and yarn scraps too!

Sew Powerful Purses #300-303 (for 2025)

These 4 scrappy purses were made with all sorts of scrappy bits and tulle covering the flap and then quilted and embellished. Bodies of the purses are upcycled denim jeans.

Upcycled denim jeans for the purse bodies. 2 have instant pockets from the front jean pockets.

Four sweet girls will benefit from these purses as they will be filled with monthly hygiene items so they can go to school the whole month long every month. This is why I sew these purses to donate to girls who do not have what we have. Please help them get a good education and keep them in school, otherwise they have to drop out and cannot get a good or self respecting job as many have to turn to prostitution in order to earn money for themselves and family to survive.
Hello sweet followers, I'm competing in a Sew-A-Thon fundraiser and I'm doing my best to help as many girls as I can. I am making cute cross-body purses and then the organization, Sew Powerful,
has seamstresses in Zambia who make the pads and soap. This is my heart.
You can get involved by honoring me with a one-time gift, or a gift for based on my
purse goals. Just go HERE to make a donation in my honor. Thank you for your support, it means a lot! Sharing this post would really help too!
Hugs!!!

Hello sweet people, I enrolled in the Sew Powerful Sew-A-Thon to raise funds so schoolgirls in Zambia Africa can have the feminine hygiene supplies they need to attend school all month. I make purses to hold the supplies as a special gift for a girl living in poverty. Together we can help keep girls in school! There is still time to donate through September 30, 2025. It takes $10 to fill each purse with the monthly hygiene supplies the girls need to stay in school all year long. So if you haven't donated yet, please consider at least a $10 donation to fill one purse. Click here to donate or use the QR code below. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

Since the sewing part has started for the Sew-a-thon, I have completed 31 purses so far. My goal is 80 purses for the month of September. I just sent in a completed box of 120 purses as well!!! Yay!!!

Sew Powerful Purses #242-243 (for 2025)

2 more purses from upcycled denim to donate to Sew Powerful. Scrappy denim flaps covered in black tulle with gold dots and quilted. Added rickrack, buttons and couched yarn. I love experimenting with scraps and embellishments.

The Sew-a-thon starts on Monday September 1st-30th. But I have been finishing some purses I had already started to make. I have been on an upcycling denim jeans roll lately.😄
