Tower Cross Body Bag with My Modifications

I made another Tower Cross Body Bag (Sew Sweetness pattern) and made several modifications. I love playing with patterns and making them different and better (in my opinion). I really like the changes I made to this one.

My changes are:
  • Sewed the strap using 2 fabrics
  • Added a narrower accent red color to the top of the bag
  • Added an accent brown color to the bottom of the bag
  • Used a magnetic snap closure instead of a zipper closure (the bag opens faster, easier and wider with the snap)
  • Boxed the corners instead of sewing darts
  • Eliminated the tabs at the upper sides (which are cute, but didn't work with my changes)
  • Placed the back zipper pocket up higher on the bag
  • Added a divided slip pocket inside
  • Used fleece rather than foam
  • And I sewed my zipper pockets differently than the instructions
The bag body measures 9" x 9" x 3"
This bag looks great in the Southwest Petroglyph print.

And I include a free matching Little Wallet when you purchase the bag,

Little Wallet with 3 pockets for cards (the last pocket is deeper and can hold cash that is folded).

Back of the bag has a zippered pocket; perfect for holding your phone or keys.

The Little Wallet fits in the pocket and there is a pen pocket and the bag closes with a magnetic snap. Another zipper pocket inside the bag.

This bag is for sale in my Etsy Shop and has had the most views of any of my current listings. This bag has SOLD.

As always, it is a one-of-a-kind bag that can never be duplicated exactly, but can be made custom in your choice of colors. Contact me if you want this bag made for you in different colors.

Tower Cross Body Bag in Pink/Purple Batik Print

I made another Tower Cross Body bag (a free Sew Sweetness pattern). I made a few changes to this bag, even more than the first Tower I made.

I didn't add the accent top part of the bag at all. I decided to make a snap closure instead of a zipper closure (mainly because I sew my zipper pockets differently and that changed something in the construction of the bag), I boxed the corners instead of sewing darts, I made the strap with 2 fabrics, I added a divided slip pocket inside the bag.

The bag measures 10" wide x 9 1/2" high x 3 1/2" deep.

I just listed this in my Etsy Shop.SOLD!

I boxed the corners instead of sewing darts.

Zippered pocket on bag (this was the front of the bag, but could be worn so it is the back of the bag).

I put in the zippered pocket and added a divided slip pocket with a pen pocket too. I like the magnetic snap so you can open the bag really wide.

Tower Cross Body Bag

I saw this orange and purple batik print in my fabrics and thought it would look great made into a Tower Cross Body Bag with purple accents. I really love how this bag came out and I love the orange and purple colors together.

The Tower features a front zip pocket, a zippered top closure to keep belongings secure and a slip pocket inside with a pen pocket as well as another zipper pocket too. Since it is a cross body bag, it can be worn across your body for hands free no fuss, or shorten the adjustment on the strap and wear on your shoulder.
I boxed the corners of the bag rather than sew darts, so it is a bit roomier with the boxed corners.

This bag measures 10" wide x 9" high x 3" deep.
This bag has SOLD.

The side pieces with the rivets add a bit of style to the bag.

My handmade zipper pulls with glass beads and a metal charm add a special touch and make zipping and unzipping easier.

A lovely bottom, lol!

Back of the bag.

A lighter shade of purple for the lining. There is a slip pocket with a pen pocket and another zippered pocket across from it.
You can find this bag as well as others for sale in my Etsy Shop. This bag just sold! Yay!
