Sisters, Oregon 39th Outdoor Quilt Show (2014)

I was in beautiful Sisters, Oregon for the 39th annual Outdoor Quilt Show last Saturday. There were 1401 quilts on display outside and in some inside shops and restaurants. I took over 1700 photos! I visited 5 local quilt shops and took photos there as well. I also helped out in the quilt show office and volunteered to hang the QBC (quilt block contest) blocks and quilts made from last years winning blocks, on quilt show morning. I had my finished quilt from last years QBC hanging in the show and this years QBC block that I made hanging with the other 2014 QBC blocks. I didn't win the QBC this year. There were quite a few really great blocks submitted this year. I had a total of 4 quilts in the show and wanted to sell 3 of them. I did sell one quilt and the Sisters quilt I made from winning the QBC blocks last year I sent to my sister.

It was about 97 degrees on quilt show day and so needless to say it was hot and my feet were tired walking so much all over the cute western town of Sisters, Oregon. The day before the show there was a small outdoor quilt show at nearby Black Butte Ranch. I took several photos of the stunning Sisters Mountains there too, which I added to a second album on Flickr where I added flowers, trees, mountains, sculptures and other photos, if you are interested in looking at those too. Go here to view that album.

This is my Happy Flowers Quilt that sold in the show. A woman from Texas purchased it. Yeehaw!!! It hung in front of the Log Cabin Furniture store on Cascade Avenue, which is the main drag in Sisters.
Be sure and check out the photos I posted on Flickr for tons of eye candy and inspiration! Enjoy the show!

Excellent memories of your visit to Sisters and the amazing quilt show they put on. One of these years I will get there. Glad you are home safe and sound. Creative Bliss Dear...

  5. WOW, its like quilt overload. Its almost overwhelming. there are so many beautiful quilts and so many great ideas. congratulations on selling your quilt. Thank you for taking the time to take so many photos. I find those quilts that are done in series very interesting. I guess they are considered panels. you can see the influence of water and greenery in many of the quilts, you know you're not in New Mexico anymore.

  8. Really really loving that quilt! Isn't it the best feeling when someone buys something you put so much effort into!! Did you draw that flower template freehand or was it from a particular pattern? I used one like this once and until I saw yours, I had totally forgotten about it!!

  10. 1700 pictures! How did you have the time? Parting with a quilt is a good and bad feeling. Hope she enjoys it as much as you did making it.
