Log Cabin Quilt...Finally Finished!

I started this log cabin quilt at a quilt retreat over a decade ago!!! I got the blocks done shortly after the retreat, but they sat for years in a pile. I actually made a log cabin star quilt in these fabrics first.  (See last photo) These were the leftover blocks I had.

Has a different look shown this way. Is it upside down? Hmm... not sure which way it looks better.

I sold this quilt at a quilt show.

This was the log cabin star quilt I made at the quilt retreat years ago. (Can you see the large star in the center of the quilt?) So now I have 2 log cabin quilts, each  with the same fabrics, but different looking.

  4. You're not very fond of log cabins, are you, nor the color blue. LOL Just teasing because these quilts both look great. The one you just finished is quite fun looking at it from different angles.

  6. just fantastic, i really like the way the off set log cabin looks. the colors really pop and the focus shifts from the center to the whole piece. Now i want to make one. i think i was at the same retreat with you. i finished the top at the retreat but it was a decade before i had the darn thing quilted. i also really like your color choice for the border.

  10. Great log cabin quilts and you bet I can see the star in the middle. Love how you added just a touch of applique to set it off!! I'm making a log cabin right now with a star in it too. Beautiful.

  13. I love the offset setting and the question about whether it is upside down. Do you think the fact that we read left to right is what gives the upside down feeling to the second look? And to one who reads right to left "upside down" would reverse? (I have a lot of projects in ten-year limbo. claire aka knitnkwilt
