Sew Powerful Purses #119-123 for 2026
I upcycled denim jean scraps to make these purses. I covered the denim scraps with tulle and quilted each piece to hold it all together. On the flaps I added yarn couching, rickrack, buttons and some French knots on the rickrack. The front, back, pocket and gusset pieces were just scrappy denim covered in tulle and quilted. I made quite a few purses using just denim scraps. The purses are quite sturdy. Donating to Sew Powerful Purse Project.

Oh, these are fun!
ReplyDeleteI had a comment typed out and somehow it disappeared, so if this is a duplicate, I blame Blogger - lol!
ReplyDeleteI am fascinated with your purses. They are so pretty and creative, especially covering the scraps with tulle! Is there a liner? I bet these are beloved purses. And such a wonderful purpose that organization has!
I see that you live in one of my favorite places in the world. I've been obsessed with it most of my life and made many, many trips to various parts of the state. Our favorite was Bandelier National Monument. I used to subscribe to New Mexico Magazine and loved their ongoing feature "One Of Our Fifty Is Missing". It boggles my mind that folks still think New Mexico is in another country.
