Pink Scrappy String Quilt with Appliqué Flannel Bear

I love scrappy quilts and string quilts are one of my favorite types of scrappy quilts. When I make quilts to donate to a child, I like to add a touch of appliqué to the quilt to make it more kid friendly and cuddly. I also use flannel for the quilt backing for softness and cuddly comfort too. I love the color pink, so this quilt looks great to me in all its pinkness 😂. Pink is a calming color too, so whoever receives this quilt, I hope they love it!

I donated this quilt and 7 other quilts to Wrap the World in Quilts, which is located in Lehi, Utah. They then send quilts anywhere in the world where quilts are needed, such as Ukraine, those who lost their homes in the California fire, Thailand and so many other places. I think this is a wonderful cause!

WTWIQ accepts quilts in any colors, prints, sizes and for all ages, so I like that I can make something and not have to be concerned if the fabric is something that one culture or another could be offended by as I am sure WTWIQ will not send anything to a place that a certain print could be a problem.

I mailed my donation box to them on Thursday (via UPS) and they received it on Friday the next day! Be sure to use the Give Back Box on their website to mail your box of quilt as you can send up to 50 pound of only $20. I put 8 quilts of various sizes into the box, plus they take fabric donations and quilt rulers and supplies too, so I gave them rulers I don't use as well as some fabric to fill up the box and the box only weighed 29 pounds, so I could have put more into the box, but it was full. You can even send just the quilt tops and they will quilt them. I will be sending in some larger quilt tops once I get them made, since it's a struggle to quilt anything large for me. I will be able to get more tops done in a fraction of the time it takes me to finish an entire quilt, and get more tops in a box than quilts, which will help me to use up more fabric faster. YAY! Sounds like a win-win-win to me!😉

A flannel bear appliqué is so cute. I didn't want to worry about using button eyes if a child under 3 got this quilt, so I used plastic Kam snaps for the eyes! Those eyes are super secure and a child couldn't remove them or even an adult!

Love all those yummy pink prints and shades of pink.

I will be sharing the other quilts I donated to Wrap the World in Quilts soon too.
