A few months ago my mom was getting rid of the little fabric that she had as she doesn't sew anymore. She sent me a few pieces of fabric. One of the fabrics was from way back in the mid 1970's when she owned a quilt shop in Southern California! She also had this beautiful floral fabric in the box that she sent me. I didn't measure it, but there must have been 2-3 yards of this fabric. I wonder what she had planned on making with this fabric? I will ask her this summer when I see her. The day I started sewing this bag, I found out from my sister that my mom was in the hospital. She had to stay there a couple of days to get her blood pressure down, but she's okay and back at home now. So while I sewed, I thought about my mom because she gave me this beautiful fabric and I was concerned about her too. I know when I see her and she sees this bag (and the wallet and carry-on bag I have yet to make with this fabric) she will be so pleased that I used the fabric she gave me.
The front of the bag. The main fabric is the fabric that my mom sent to me a few months ago because she was getting rid of her fabric. I had the accent fabric and the lining already. |
Under the flap is the front pocket. |
The back of the bag has a zippered pocket. I didn't add the hardware to convert it to a backpack because I would only wear this across the body. |
My zipper pull of course. |
Inside the bag is another zippered pocket and slip pockets. I made the center to hold a pen. |
