I had another idea and made one block, but cut out several pieces to make more. Well that block didn't work size wise either!!! Ugh! I blame it all on having to downsize into one bedroom, whereas I had 2 rooms before. Hubby wanted a room for his exercise stuff and computer, so it has taken me a long time to organize, toss out stuff and donate stuff to be able to fit it in my room. I did get to keep both closets and have some space in the garage too (but it's freezing cold out there though now). I am trying to label everything to help find things, but until I get it in my head where things are located and get used to this new setup, I think my creativity has taken a nosedive for the moment!!! Plus. I still have a lot of fine tuning to do and a few more things to find a home for. So, I am really not feeling it so far with this second prompt. It's me I know.
I ended up making 3, 6" finished Friendship Stars variation and added appliqué hearts in the centers for my take on making it a double. Maybe it's the colors I chose? Maybe it's the block? I don't know, but it just doesn't look or feel quite right to me. Oh well it is what it is for now and I already know I will be donating this quilt to Ukraine.
Pin It Now!

I love how your friendship stars blocks weave together like that. Also, I like your purses I saw on your previous post.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know that feeling of moving things around in a home! It does take a while, yes it does. (For me, I always have to find something three times before it sinks into my head that it lives in that particular place. The first two times, I madly search and search.) You have my sympathies. I love the precious hearts in the middle of the Friendship Star. Yes, the colors are not as bold as your first section, but I think it will work as the hearts are charming. Now you can call it done for Round Two, a satisfying accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely blocks. I like your applique hearts :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you had a few attempts that didn't quite work out, and I hope those blocks can work their way in, even for the backing!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to be motivated when you can't find any thing and don't feel settled. The friendship star blocks look great, but I see what you mean about maybe not working the best. See what prompt 3 inspires, then decide if they go or not. Happy stitching.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you can work the 8" blocks in somewhere as we go along. I love how this is looking, Daryl. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI sympathize with your sizing adventure. That's happened to me a few times. But your third try is charming. I like the appliqued hearts. And that variation of the friendship star is my favorite. It looks droopy to me when the left hand of the star is pointing down.
ReplyDeleteI love how these blocks look like they are woven together. Very pretty so far!
ReplyDeleteOh that is just gorgeous! It's hard getting the sizing just right, but you did well! xx
ReplyDeleteThose applique heart centers sure set off those friendship stars!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteAll is well, that ends well. Your SAHRR is coming along very nicely. I love how you are opting not to surround the piece with each new border prompt, but simply to add a vertical or horizontal border or two. It's fun watching this coming together.
ReplyDeleteHmm, it's not fun to have to reduce your space, I hope you will find a place for everything easily and be ready for creativity. Your stars are pretty, I love the cute appliquéd hearts too! Thank you for sharing and linking up, hugs.
