This bag features Christine's signature hidden phone pocket on the back of the bag, an interior zipper pocket with an overlay, and a slip pocket if you want to add one. The bag has a a gusset and a double sided adjustable strap with strap tabs at the sides. I chose to use black vinyl just for the accents (flap, strap tabs, corner patches and zipper overlay). The strap could have been vinyl, but I chose a black cotton and the corduroy that I used for the exterior fabric. While the bag was designed to use vinyl, cork or a similar material, you could use anything as long as you interfaced and stabilized where needed, which I did.
It finishes at approx. 25 cm (10″) W x 27 cm (10½”) H x 9 cm (3½”) D.
Pattern is on Sale now and comes with the Add-On Zipper Closure and corner patches instructions and templates for no added cost during the Introduction of the Whisper Crossbody Bag + video instruction too on Christine's YouTube channel. Here is my test bag made with corduroy and vinyl accents and cotton lining. I have been using this every day since I finished it and LOVE it! It's the right size, shape and I love a flap on a bag the best.
Flap has a magnetic closure under the flap, since I didn't have the thumb catch closure.
Zipper pocket with vinyl overlay.
The hidden phone pocket. I use mine for keys.
Back side of bag. The vinyl flap goes over the hidden phone pocket. I also added vinyl corner patches on the back side too. They could just be added to the front only or not at all.
Side showing the vinyl strap tabs.
The base has stabilizer to make it sturdy. Since my stabilizer was a sew-in version instead of a fusible stabilizer, I like to quilt the bottom so the stabilizer stays put.
The button on the flap says, Handmade with Love.
Be sure to grab your pattern now while it is on sale and comes with the add-ons for no extra cost during the INTRO Pricing only! Links are above. And be sure and check out the tester photos for ideas of which closure they chose, what materials and color ideas they used too. You can see the Intro video when Christine explains the bag options and show the tester pics too or check out her blog to take you time looking at the photos.
Happy Bag Sewing!!!

Your bag turned out beautifully. Then I jumped to the intro video. I'm thinking about purchasing the pattern. I have a nice piece of cork that might work for it. So, it really is pretty easy for someone who hasn't made a bag for years? Although thinking about it I made a pretty complicated bag when last I did one... there is hope here. Thanks for sharing all your insight.
ReplyDeleteThis bag turned out beautifully, love the black vinyl accents and all the functional pocket details! The hidden phone pocket is such a smart touch. Definitely tempting me to grab the pattern while it’s on sale.
