Purse with Metal Frame Closure

I made a little purse that I enlarged using the coin purse tutorial from Madame Samm's pattern. You can find her coin purse tutorial on Craftsy. The applique was a bit too long, but it was hard to know for sure where it would end up after I sewed the purse pieces together. I didn't raise the applique up any higher or I would have sewn the applique in the seams. I hope to make some more even larger purses too. I'll use this one for holding my hand sewing items like scissors, needle book, threads, etc.
I used batik fabric and I added an applique (light pink is handyed felt, then cotton fabric on top of that and a velvet heart on top of the cotton) and I added sequins, and beads.

The other side the applique is all handyed felt, beads & French knots.

Lining is handyed cotton fabric.

  1. That is so sweet. I've had one of these purse closures for one and a half years now and still haven't found the courage to make one. Maybe that will be my challenge for the New Year.

  5. OMG! I love this super cute purse Darly!! I've been wanting to make one of these using our fabric but my Joann's never has the smaller closures. You've inspired me to search for them and make some:) I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have a Happy New Year!!
