Sew Powerful Purses #409-419 for 2026

Eleven more purses finished and ready to donate to Sew Powerful Purse Project.

Scrappy flaps! I used miscellanous units I had already pieced and added more scraps to create the flap on the left.

Lots of fun decorative machine stitches on these 2. The left one was scrappy pieced and the one on the right was just fabric. Do you have a preference?

Zentangle flap
This was a Zentangle that I drew onto fabric and sewed on some Punchinella (sequin waste) by hand and I quilted this piece too. I was thinking it might be a nice small wall hanging when I started this years and years ago. I never made it into anything, so I cut it into a flap and just added the handmade label.

The Zentangle flap folded to the front here and a string quilt block on the right with some added decorative stitches.

Log cabin flap.

A Bountiful Basket quilt block flap on left and just a fabric on the right. The large flower print was perfect as is for a flap. Just added a few buttons is all.

Please donate in my honor for the Sew-a-thon. Click here and then choose the amount to donate. $10 fills one purse to keep one girl in school. Thank you so much for your support!🤗

Sew Powerful Purses #386-392 for 2026

7 more purses finished during the Sew-a-thon & Fundraiser this month for Sew Powerful. Thank you for supporting me in this effort with your kind words and donations. There are many sponsors who have generously donated products for prizes for the Sew-a-thon. The top 2 people who received the most donations during the fundraiser will get to choose the prize they want (like a particular model of a Bernina, Janome or Babylock sewing machine that was offered). Then everyone who has received $100 or more in donations will be in the drawing to possibly win a prize by other sponsors generated by a random number generator. No guarantee of winning anything though, but to me the biggest prize is knowing that there will be 1,000's of girls who will receive an education and can stay in school all month long. Scroll to the end to donate on my behalf to keep a girl(s) in school. Thank you!

I used a wool flower and hand stitched it on.

flap lining
One of the purses below has this lining because the 2 purses below were made by upcycling a red Starbucks apron. The pocket you see is the apron pocket, so I didn't need to make a pocket, yay!

I got 2 purses made by upcycling a Starbucks apron. I used red scraps, including scraps from the apron, to create the flaps. I added a wool appliqué teacup & saucer and teapot.

I cut a charm pack into smaller squares.

2 scrappy batik fabric flaps.

Sew Powerful Purses #359-365 for 2026

7 more purses completed for the Sew Powerful Sew-a-thon & Fundraiser during September.

Scrappy flaps with an added hexagon flower that I appliqued on top.

More Bountiful Baskets flaps, including the one below. These all depict state flowers, but don't ask me which state because I cannot remember them all 😄.

I made several small pieces using felt and cotton fabric flowers. I thought they would be postcards one day, but they morphed into purse flaps! What else?

Thank you all who have donated on my behalf by clicking the link below. I acheieved my goal and even more! Yay!!! So even more girls can attend school now. I appreciate your donations, your support of me and the girls. Together we are Sew Powerful!!!
