Stay at Home Round Robin Quilt (SAHRR) 2026

My SAHRR quilt is finished! Quilted and binding done. I will be donating this quilt to Ukraine via Wrap the World With Quilts. The quilt measures 34.5" x 40.5"

I backed the quilt with the purple and orange floral fabric that is a flannel fabric and added this label that started off as a quilt block for the front, but it was too large and didn't work, so I made the smaller Friendship Stars on the front instead and saved this block to use as a label.

Sew Powerful Purse #99 for 2026

This purse was a combined effort of Donna WM & myself. Donna made the purse flap and sent it to me and I sent her a purse flap that I made. Donna finished the purse using the flap I made and I finished the purse using the flap that she made. So I am counting this as one purse, since I made the purse body and the flap for hers and together that equals one purse.

Flap Donna made, purse body I made
Donna made the flap and I used a polka dot vinyl to make the purse body & strap. The vinyl matches well with the lining she used below.

flap lining Donna made for her flap
Donna used this lining fabric for the flap lining and it reminded me of the polka dot vinyl I had, so I decided to use that vinyl for the purse body.

Flap I made, purse body Donna made
I made the patchwork flap and Donna completed the rest of the purse.

Sew Powerful Purse #95-98 for 2026

Four more purses to donate to Sew Powerful Purse Project.

Scrappy pieced with a fussy cut heart appliquéd to center.

Another flap like the 2 above, but with a flower instead of a heart in the center.

Zentangle flap. I drew the Zentangle over a fabric that I colored first. I did this Zentangle so long ago, before turning in it into a purse flap, that I do not recall if I used paint or crayons to color the white fabric? Being the color is light, I would guess it was crayon, which makes me want to experiment with more crayon on flaps now 😄. It has also been a long time since I did any Zentangles on fabric, so I might be playing with those again too.

3 Scrappy pieced flaps with flower appliqué from that rainbow tank top I have been upcycling to make flower appliqués for the purse flaps. All flowers were die cut. All have the same orange and red Japanese print fabric for the body of the purses.

Perfect purse for Spring and Saint Patrick's Day with all the green prints.

Sew Powerful Purses #83-84 for 2026

I rarely use a fabric for a flap as is, because I love to piece, appliqué, paint, use decorative machine stitches, stencil and more for the flaps I make, but I thought I would make 2 purses with this print as it was so pretty. I had several other panels that were different on this same panel yardage that I decided to use for flap linings. The fabric has a silky feel and is a bit shiny.

Sew Powerful Purses #77-81 for 2026

Five more purses to donate to Sew Powerful Purse Project. These 5 flaps were made using fabric scraps of honeybee fabrics that a friend donated to me. I was able to get quite a lot of purse flaps out of all those scraps. I paired all of these flaps with a fabric of pinecones and holly leaves on a brown background for the purse bodies.

Red String Blocks for Rainbow Scrap Quilt Challenge 2026

The color for March for the Scrap Quilt Challenge is RED. I did have quite a few red scraps, so I made 12 string blocks. Since I have no idea how many total blocks I need, or what size quilt I will make, or the layout I will choose, I may need to make more blocks later in one or more colors. For now, I thought I would make whatever I feel like and figure it out later. Not sure how many colors we will have? Is it 12 colors (one for each month) or fewer colors? I guess I will just continue playing along and find out later; by then I will have more scraps in every color if I need to make some more blocks. I am having fun and using up scraps, which is always a good thing.

I love how the blocks look after they are all trimmed up.

Sew Powerful Purses #75-76 for 2026

Several years ago I bought a pretty print of fabric thinking it would make a great One Block Wonder Quilt. I cut it all up and sewed the blocks and then made the quilt top, but it was rather too small for anything other than a wall quilt and I really didn't want or need a wall quilt. I should have purchased more yardage, but I didn't know how much to buy and how large the quilt would be. Adding a border to make it larger, I would need make a border or borders that would be as large as the quilt itself and that would be no good. So it went into the UFO box to marinate until I decided what to do. After organizing recently, I came across it and decided I would take apart all the blocks I had and make purse flaps for the Sew Powerful Purses that I make to donate. I would find pleasing fabrics for the purse bodies to go with the flaps I made and eventually turn them into completed purses as I found the right fabrics for the rest of the purses. I got these 2 purses completed and they turned out really nice and much better than a quilt, as you can really see the one block on each purse. I set the blocks on point and added a few small scraps to make it larger enough for the flaps. I love how colorful and interesting these flaps look.

One Block Wonder quilt blocks end up looking all different after sewing them into a block. You stack and cut 6 layers of fabric into equilateral triangles. Each stack has six fabrics all the same cut for each block, but each fabric stack is different from all the other cut stacks. So when they are sewn into hexagons, they form a kaleidoscope looking quilt block, all cut from a different section of the fabric print.

These are the first 2 finished purses I made. I have over a dozen more flaps, so I will get to cutting fabric for the purse bodies and sewing them eventually into finished purses too.

Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) 2026~ Top Finished

My 2026 SAHRR top is done. I need to quilt it, but that will take some time to do and I need to think about how I will quilt it.  This top measures 34.5" wide x 41.5" high. I didn't want to make a huge quilt as I have difficulty quilting large quilts on my sewing machine, so I kept this one small, which can be used for a baby quilt, a wall or small lap quilt.

The last Prompt (#6) Anja (of Anja Quilts) told us it was Quilter's Choice, so yay! I was hoping I could add the lettering, along with something else, so I used dies to cut the letters and made simple squares between the Ukraine flags. I had 2 different fonts and sizes of letters. I am happy with how this came out.

The Linky Party on Anja's blog already ended, so I couldn't add my link to share there 😢. I kept forgetting to take photos, plus it had been windy here, so I finally got these photos taken yesterday. I guess I will have to wait to share it on Gail's blog later this month.

Slava Ukraini at the top means Glory to Ukraine, hence that wording at the bottom.

The tie dye I used as background looks like bursts of sunflowers or fireworks.
