Sew Powerful Purses #500-502 for 2025

3 purses to donate to Sew Powerful Purse Project.

The appliqué I added to this painted flap background is an Ankara design meaning beauty, so I also added the word, beauty. The smallest alphabet lettering I had was still a bit large to fit onto the flap, so I got creative with the placement of the letters. As you can see, beauty just barely fit. The painted background was done by dipping sliced pieces of pool noodles into paint and stamping onto the canvas fabric. The darker circles were the first dip into the paint and I continued to stamp without adding more paint to the pool noodle to get the lighter circles.

This African fabric was given to me by my fabric fairy, 😄.

I made a second flap with the Ankara symbol for beauty, but on this flap I used a computer font to write onto the flap with an acrylic pen. The background was paint-sticks rubbed over a lid I saved from a frozen dessert that had a raised interior design. I sewed on some buttons in the centers of some  of the designs.

Another African fabric from my fabric fairy. 😂

I found this piece of fabric that I had played with years ago, trying Zentangle designs on a stencil Monstera leaf. I added a few crystals and turned it into a flap for a purse.

Yes, my fabric fairy gave me this African fabric print too. Every few inches was the word HIGH-LIFE printed throughout this fabric.

Sunset Ridge Lap Size Quilt

I used part of a jelly roll to make this quilt and scraps of white and off white for the background fabrics. It measures 46" wide x 60" high. I used polyester batting for warmth and a flannel backing for added softness. My son is coming for a visit and I wanted to make a quilt that would keep him warm on the cold nights we have been having. The jelly roll was from Amazon. The other fabrics I already had. This will be a nice extra quilt to have on hand when needed. Sunset Ridge is a free quilt pattern from Moda Fabrics. I made mine larger than the pattern. It was a quick quilt to make and easy too. I alternated the jelly roll fabrics I had. I could have used one color family per row, but decided to mix them up.

I quilted this quilt with a serpentine stitch.

More Practical Pouches (Rosie & David Pattern) Sizes Mini-Small-Medium & XXL

Practical Pouches in sizes Mini, Small, Medium and XXL. I made some of these pouches a few weeks ago, but then ran out of the double-sided tape (DST) I needed, so I ordered more DST and finished the rest of the sizes, plus another XXL size, which is my favorite size.

Mini-Small-Medium sizes
The Mini has one zipper with the clear vinyl pocket. The Small & Medium sizes have 2 zipper pockets (one is clear on each), and all the sizes have 2 zipper pockets, except for the Mini size. I used glitter ribbon on all of the pouches. I also added zipper pulls with beads and some with charms too. I added the zipper pulls to the first ones I made too, but didn't take the photos of them with the zipper pulls, since I just added them.

Mini-Small-Medium sizes back sides
The back side of the 3 above. I hand stitched the binding on the back like a quilt.

XXL size
The XXL is my favorite size. The back pocket holds the pattern pieces to make more of these pouches. I actually was given a kit to make a similar project bag, but with one clear pocket and not as large as this pouch, so I took the fabrics and the pink tassel zipper pull from that kit and made this pouch instead! I even have some of the Tula Pink lion print leftover. I used my fabric for the binding and backing and lining.

XXL back side
Here is the back side with the fabrics that I had that I used. I made changes to the pattern so that I could use cotton fabric instead of the waterproof canvas that Rosie used and added interfacing to the cotton fabrics as well (except no interfacing for the bias binding). I love these pouches and have been using the XXL sizes.

Sew Powerful Purses #477-479 for 2025

3 more purses with scrappy flaps and flower appliqués. Donating to Sew Powerful Purse Project.

purse front
Vinyl flap lining and some more of the fabric that my mom had given me several years ago. I had cut the rest of that fabric to make purses to donate. Purse below this has this purse body fabric too.

Pieced webbing scraps to create a long enough strap. Covered joins with ribbon.

The flower is an old rainbow dyed tank top I hadn't worn in years, so I cut up tons of flowers for appliqué and have been adding them to purses. Some of the flowers show one color of the dyed tank top, but I love when I can get a bit more of the rainbow colors in a flower, like this one.

This is a fabric I had for years, so I cut the rest for purses too.

Sew Powerful Purses #473-476 for 2025

Four more purses, 3 have Hawaiian print purse bodies.

I added a little fabric from the purse body and the flap lining in this scrappy purse flap to tie it together.

I also had a couple pieces of scraps from the purse body to add to this purse flap as well as the next 2 purses.
