I was searching for a post that I thought I had shared a year ago about these Mini Composition Notebook Covers and I couldn't find the post. Well, duh I guess I never even shared these before, so no wonder I couldn't find them! Well here they are at last.
I got the mini composition notebooks at Walmart. They come in a pack of 3 for about $1.25. I wanted to make mostly Southwest prints and I thought I might make them for gifts or to sell, but I apparently put them away in a special "easy to find place" that turns out was NOT so easy to find as I cannot find them! 😠I should have written down in my mini comp book where I put them! I will keep searching for them.

I love that one with the circles even if it is not Southwest. The center is a Route 66 print. The hot air balloons are considered Southwest here in New Mexico as Albuquerque is home to the annual International Balloon Fiesta each October. The balloon one I made first, so I made a fabric closing tab for it and then switched to using vinyl tabs for the rest, along with plastic snaps. |

Of course New Mexicans love chile peppers of all kinds, especially fire roasted Hatch green chile! It is chile roasting season here right now too. Yum! |

This is the one I kept. I made the closing tabs on all of them with a tiny piece of vinyl and a plastic snap. |

Those are so cute!
ReplyDeleteThese are great. I use the mini comp books with my 4th graders to keep track of vocabulary words. This would make the books more sturdy. Do you have a tutorial for the covers?
ReplyDeletePack Rat with a Plan, you don't have an email with your comment and came through as a no-reply comment. I did use a tutorial from another blog, but made several changes because the first one I made was a bit too tight and I made other changes as well. You can Google "Mini Composition Notebook Covers" and you might find a few tutorials on blogs or YouTube. I tend to make changes in most free tutorials that I find as they aren't always perfect instructions and I see things that could be improved in the instructions or added or subtracted as well. Since I made these about a year ago, I don't remember all I did and would have to read over my notes again.
DeleteYou sure dressed up those little notebooks nicely, my favorite is the one you kept for yourself.
ReplyDeleteI've made some similar notebook covers but used hair elastic to close it. There is a fine line between too tight and too loose on those covers. I get the notebooks at dollar stores although I can't tell you how much I paid for the last batch which was several years ago. That might be time to revisit them since I still have a lot of supplies. Hope you have success if you sell them.
ReplyDeletei love these, I've made lots of them and enjoy using various fabrics. love your fabric choices.
